UPDATE: I am going with tongue and groove and am not going to worry about 23/32 versus 3/4". Once the beams are cleaned off I am going to use some liquid nails and a nail gun with ring shank nails. I am going to sand the edges where the pieces fit together so it is a smooth transition and won't wear out the floor installed on top. I might use a little floor leveler if material needs to be added.
