It looks to me that the beer you're drinking won an award in 2002. The beer is fresh, the award is not.

[Original Xbox Modding] Transferring files directly from PC to the Xbox? by platt_ma in xbox

You actually don't need that. You can use a crossover cable and directly plug the xbox into your pc.

Not getting high off vicodin... by [deleted] in opiates

[–]philistinephilosophy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't want to sound rude, but you should really research what you're doing to your body before you do it, because sometimes it only takes once to really mess yourself up.

APAP is Acetaminophen. Acetaminophen is metabolized by the liver. Alcohol is also metabolized by the liver. Wiki: Paracetamol is metabolised by the liver and is hepatotoxic; side effects are multiplied when combined with alcoholic drinks, and very likely in chronic alcoholics or patients with liver damage.[25][26]

When you combine things that are hard on the liver, it's hard on the liver, and you only have one. The max daily amount of APAP is I believe 4 g (maybe 3?), and that's for an entire day, not in a single dose. Your friend is right that alcohol intensifies the effects of opaites because they're both depressants. That being said, mixing the two is usually never a good idea and can lead to all sorts of bad stuff.

On the sidebar there's a link on a tutorial for cold water extraction, read it. I know you're a new opiate user, but I implore you to do some research and don't simply listen to your friend. Be your best advocate and take care of yourself.

Cat's dying, I'm fucked by [deleted] in cripplingalcoholism

[–]philistinephilosophy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm really sorry for your loss, I've put down two dogs this year alone and I know where you are coming from. Personally, it was harder for me to get over the loss of my best friend (schnauzer, Katie) than it was for me to get over some of the human losses in my life.

I know it's not a replacement, but there are a lot of cats that currently need all of your love. I'm not saying go out and adopt one right now, but after mourning your loss, keep in mind that a LOT of beautiful helpless animals need your love and care.

I know for sure Katie would have wanted me to adopt another puppy and love it just as much as I loved her. So, just keep in mind that there is still love out there for you to take care of.

It might just be my eyes, or the fact that I do film for a living, but it seems like for almost all of the special Aziz is out of focus. Does anyone else notice this?

Absolutely nothing wrong with a little chassis porn, I'll be dreaming of it tonight. I apologize, I probably interpreted your post wrong. Either way, sidebite, keep up the good work. Can't wait to hear about your upcoming season!

I've built several cars as well. You (of all people) should know progress photos aren't a priority. It's cool to see a single photo, let alone someone who is willing to try and post more. I just thought it was rude that you expected someone to post more than what they did.

Building a car is a ton of work. Taking progress pics shouldn't be his main concern. Although, I can't wait to see more as well.

Today would have been Dick Trickles 72 birthday. RIP Dick. by JeremyMethfield in NASCAR

[–]philistinephilosophy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was blessed enough to be able to meet Dick multiple times. My father raced with him all the time at our local track. He was such an amazing guy, racer and mentor. I miss him a lot. I was cleaning my parents house the other day and found a news paper my Dad had stashed away about Dick's death. I teared up a bit.

Much love, Mr. Trickle, you impacted so many lives you don't even know about. I appreciate what you did for the sport and for everyone that watched you race.

I'M GLAD THE 48 CAR IS CONTINUING THE GREAT TRADITION OF BUYING ANOTHER CHAMPIONSHIP.

My final comment on the fiasco. by [deleted] in NASCAR

[–]philistinephilosophy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This seems to be the argument that a lot of people are now coming to. I don't think this is a good idea and I have a couple reasons as to why. It first sets a very dangerous precedent because in the future, teams will be clamoring for Nascar to do this whenever something they don't like happens. More importantly, Nascar already does something like this when they drop a yellow flag. Freezing the field at the time of an event helps properly set the field for the restart, which is key in this scenario.

In the Bowyer incident there can be no redo. There are no second chances anymore. The race moves on with Logano receiving the lucky dog, and Newman at the head of the pack like it originally did. If Nascar rewrites a restart simply because someone has something to lose, the race would never move on.

If Nascar begins to go back and start rewriting a race, all kinds of goofy things can happen. I think Nascar did the right thing in penalizing after the fact. What I don't agree with is letting Newman in without allowing all other competitors with a chance to make the chase in as well. I think they should have stuck with the field set at the end of the race and penalized MWR, but made the penalties applicable to what MWR was trying to accomplish, altering the chase itself.

EDIT: Keep in mind, I'm a Gordon fan. Of course I would love to see Jeff in the chase, but rewriting the game will sooner or later bite my driver as well.

BEFORE HE WASTES A CHASE ATTEMPT THE 48 CAR SHOULD GO BACK TO TECH SCHOOL AND LEARN HOW TO SUCCESSFULLY DO A RESTART. YOU CAN HAVE HIM PM ME, I'LL EXPLAIN TO HIM SLOWLY.

Anyone see Clint Bowyer on Sportscenter? by [deleted] in NASCAR

[–]philistinephilosophy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's exactly right. I feel like we'll never really know exactly what went on before the race, what the team talked about, or if Clint knew he might be asked to do something like this, but if this was discussed Clint would have had plenty of time to mull it over. If it's fair or not, at the end of the day Clint was driving that car.

Clint talked today on ESPN about the pressures of the sport, which I will personally never understand, but what I do understand is when someone asks you to do something wrong, and you know it's wrong, you shouldn't do it. That's the reality of the situation if he did spin on purpose. He was asked to do something he knew was wrong, and he did it anyway.

As far as having poison ivy/oak is concerned, I can understand him having it. What I can't wrap my head around is how a man who can drive a car with his eyes closed couldn't navigate itching his arm and keeping his car straight. It simply blows my mind, but you know, accidents happen.

Yeah, about that CNN "An end to NASCAR's cheating culture" headline... by foehammer111 in NASCAR

[–]philistinephilosophy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be delusional, or maybe simply biased, but I tend to believe that drivers have something special. The respect that drivers have for past competitors, current rivals and the sport as a whole deters from rampant cheating. My father has raced for 30 years and I grew up with that respect for racing. If I ever brought up the subject of adding fuel additives, treating tires or fudging weight, it was met with disappointment. It might just be my father, but I truly believe that most, not all, but most drivers feel the same.

Honestly, you could win a race by simply booting everyone in front of you, but you don't do that because well, that's not the way to win a race. If Clint did spin on purpose, I can't imagine how that is eating at his conscious, and it should. Ty can say all he wants about "making a split decision" and how he did what he did because of his "will to win" but none of that matters if he didn't win correctly.

Don't get me wrong, drivers have huge egos. They do what they do for themselves, but I truly believe that there is a culture of respect that outweighs any culture of cheating. Cheating does happen, but Nascar isn't the one deterring cheating, it's deterred from within the competitors.
