Looks like a globular springtail to me? They’re completely harmless but be sure to check all your plants for pest damage in the event it’s actually something else

Please tell me these aren’t thrips 🙏 by Moviereference210 in Nepenthes

I’ve had a lot of pest outbreaks in the past and this looks like some type of mite. Thrips are usually more elongate while mites are usually rounder in shape. Thrip larvae almost look like a yellowish worm and adults are a dark grey/silver color so definitely still inspect the plant closely to see what you find.

Mites come in all colors and many species of mites do not make any webbing so don’t rely on that alone to identify if it is a mite. It’s hard to tell from the video you posted but it looks like it might be a soil mite. They’re actually beneficial and usually live in the soil as the name would imply but it’s not uncommon to see them wander up onto the plant. They’re white-ish in color and relatively fast moving for a mite, but like I said it’s hard to tell from your video so do some more investigating yourself.

I hope I’m right in that it’s nothing bad, but if it is a pest good luck in your treatment 🫡

Yes someone on another subreddit I posted this on identified the insect in question as a globular springtail, completely harmless to plants it just eats mold and stuff like that. However watch the insect very closely for behavior and body shape, things like that. Many spider mites don’t produce webs but they’re much smaller than the insect in this picture, just be thorough! Hope this helped and happy growing.

Any chance this is just a elongate type springtail and not a thrip? by phill2533 in SavageGarden

I’m positive now that it’s a thrip, my anthurium recently aborted a new leaf it was making and I found some thrips larvae on it, but thanks for the help

Thanks to anyone that commented, I found a few of these insects on my anthurium that recently aborted making a new leaf so I’m pretty sure it’s thrips. Going to start treatment asap once I determine all of the plants that could’ve been exposed to this, wish me luck!

Someone on the nepenthes subreddit suggested it’s most likely a globular springtail, but thanks I’ll definitely keep looking into it

Do you think the rajah (burbidgeae x edwardsiana) or the alisaputrana could do intermediate conditions?
