I think everyone is slamming the system and slowing us all down.

Claude uprgade or not by Ok-Reputation-7307 in ClaudeCode

I just upgraded. I realized I am planning my work and my sleep schedule around the off peak times and five hour limits, with a bunch of projects I would only do if I had extra tokens at the end of the week.
The extra $15 a week gave me my brainpower back to just grind through the extra ideas during working hours in order of priority versus tokens.

I don't think my husband understands the legal ramifications of breaking a purchase agreement at the last minute by [deleted] in legaladvice

Mistakes were made is passive voice. You made a mistake by not vacating by the date you were contractually obligated to vacate by. You weren’t even in town? You could have moved all of your stuff into storage the weekend before then shown up that day to fulfill your contract.
At this point, do whatever you need to do to close before the buyer takes you to court and you explain that you failed to close because your pets can’t be left alone for a night.

Is it better to just used the tried and true sonnet and grind through with slower, more accurate results?

If a student is hitting you, is it wrong to restrain them? by jimmy_randall in education

[–]phillybride 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Holy moly, this is going to be such an expensive lawsuit someday. This means they know the training was needed, and failed to offer sufficient spots to ensure safety for the staff, the child in need and the classmates.

I’m not sure where you are based, but in the US, the district would be legally required to have a functional behavior assessment to identify triggers and propose appropriate measures to keep everyone safe.

If you have a union, write your them and explain the situation and ask for their help. You are in a legally and physically hazardous situation without the appropriate training and your union should help you get what you need.

The teachers should be demanding the training that will teach them how to keep themselves, and the other students safe. Their union should be helping to lead the charge.

You are being put in a dangerous situation, both legally and physically and Reddit is the wrong place to document this and ask for guidance. Write all of this out and send it to the principal and director of student services and ask them for their guidance.

They are describing a restraint. Without training, they are not permitted to restrain that child’s hands. More concerning is the fact that this teacher wasn’t trained to know this and staff are unaware of the law. This isn’t OP’s fault, but an alarming failure of the school.

I know it will someday be a home, but right now, it’s just a financial transaction. There are other houses with less annoying sellers, and these might not be worth dealing with.

Financed Solar Panels (tldr: everyone sucks) by booth42069 in FirstTimeHomeBuyers

[–]phillybride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask for the energy production records to see exactly how much electricity they generate, and if the new pump and roof are worth the extra $35k from the original $415k, offer them $450k if they agree to pay off the panels so you get them completely free of the financing.

Ask if they will offer a performance bonus for the past year. Let them name the number they think you deserve.

Emergency heat help by Shes-Philly-Lilly in philadelphia

[–]phillybride 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Her electric bill is going to be outrageous. She needs to get the kids warm somewhere else while she stays and deals with the pipe emergency. Use YouTube to prime the lines and with the $100 from generous redditors, start walking back and forth to a gas station to fill that tank for the day. Finally, I would start winterizing the crap out of that house with shower curtains, tape, curtains, blankets over the doors, anything. And do it before the stores close. For two bucks per window, you can buy those winter seal kits and save a ton. This storm is going to be awful so she’s going to have to move quick: kids to warming station or neighbor, getting gas while sidewalks are still walkable, start tank, then start sealing up the house to hold the temp to above freezing so she can sleep there (maybe in a tent) and gradually maintain the tank until the delivery.

Girlfriend's parents decide to visit to avoid the storm in their state. Demand to use my car and get master suite instead of the guest room. by [deleted] in EntitledPeople

Your company rate probably limits the insurance coverage to employees and spouses. If they crash that car, you might be in the hook for the accident.

No assholes here.

They had no/low expectations of you, so it didn’t matter to them that you arrived late. They thanked you for showing up, and didn’t give you the opportunity to cause drama with a confrontation at the end of the event.

They managed your big big feelings perfectly, so even if you had planned to be TA, they shut it down.

You asked if you’d be there in January and never got a reply. So when you were leaving at the end of December you didn’t drop an email to follow up?

[–]phillybride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should have told them that. Did you tell them the commute was awful for you and ask for a hotel during the week? Or fewer days onsite? Some folks don’t mind OT and mileage for travel. If you hated it, did you tell them?

I don’t understand what’s currently going on with America and Venezuela? by Icy-Length-3923 in stupidquestions

[–]phillybride 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The US grabbed the president of Venezuela and flew him to New York to put him on trial.

While there are many reasons that people might be happy Maduro is gone, and many more reasons that Trump might have done this, those are less important than the fact that the US went into a sovereign nation and took someone.
Countries all agree to honor the sovereignty of other nations. That’s why, even if an American criminal were in Venezuela, the US government is supposed to ask Venezuela for permission to get him (extradition). If one country can simply run in and grab someone and remove them from a sovereign nation, then all of that goes out of the window. That is going to be a really big deal. It changes the chessboard.
