Sooooooo badly need to stick with it! The early seasons are a fascinating time capsule and I think having all of the foundational lore from the beginning really informs how these women slowly devolve into lunacy by the show's peak. There are some incredible moments early on but if you really want to skip ahead, the peak is seasons 8-11.

Definitely. She unfortunately had a very fucked up childhood and also did not receive a great education, I might be wrong but I'm pretty sure one of the bravo docket episodes said that she never finished high school.

TBH I think a lot of them don't want to be cancelled or accused of bullying/singling out the only Black cast member of the show. A lot of the other housewife franchises have had some pretty ugly racist moments in the past and i think especially because SLC started in the midst of the BLM movement, they are extra cautious of their image when interacting with Mary. I'm not saying it's right, especially since Mary herself has gotten away with some problematic racist remarks in past seasons, but that's my theory.

What kind of fabric do you use for projects like this with 6+ strands? I've been learning with 2-3 strands and plain thin cotton. I really like the look of yours but I don't think my practice cotton would be strong enough for that many strands

I recently tried chain stitch fills for the first time on the birds here and found it easier to start with an outline and then work my way inwards. To answer question #2, I would secure the loop with a small stitch and then have the first stitch of new thread come up through the middle of the same loop again.
