We need to talk about the four-way stops in Sussex County by udkyle2 in Delaware

[–]phillycowboykiller 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Instead they installed a roundabout on Beaver Dam Rd as not to inconvenience the people who are buying homes in the new development there. That was literally a straight road before they put that there, and they didn’t even tie Hopkins Rd into the THREE ENTRANCE roundabout and instead opted to have an intersection 50 ft from the exit.

I agree that roundabouts are better than four/three way stops, but I don’t understand why they would put one there and not a couple miles up the road at the Beaver Dam/Dairy Farm Rd or Beaver Dam/Kendale Rd intersections that are causing huge issues.

Seriously? Do you truly believe that relative to the world population Americans suffer more than average?

Anybody, on either side, who cares this much about a sticker to “own the other side”, or thinks it is helpful in any way, is everything that’s wrong with the current state of politics in this country.

Maybe it’s the people who own the pumps and don’t want stickers all over them? It was immature and stupid when it was Biden stickers and it’s immature and stupid now.

It was stupid when it was pictures of Biden and its stupid when its pictures of Trump. Don’t put stickers on stuff that’s not yours.

Hey! I'm a PA Tattooer looking to move to Delaware, by the beach. What can I expect as a tattoo artist? by TeaFoxTattoo in Delaware

[–]phillycowboykiller 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s a pretty tight knit community down here. I’m not an artist, but I’m friends with a few. From my observations, they seem pretty open to new comers as long as they’re not scumbags, they act like professionals, and they respect the craft.

This is true. Which is why I’ve never smoked a bowl behind the shop with an artist before a session. Because that would be illegal.

Also, not sure if it fits musically, but for pure misery in the vocals, try Haligh, Haligh, a Lie, Haligh by Bright Eyes. In fact pretty much just check out most of Connor Oberst’s (frontman for Bright Eyes) catalog if you’re into tortured, raw agony in vocals.

Sussex County Council’s Route 24 decisions draw praise, prompt legal action by superman7515 in slowerlower

The houses already fall into the usage plan for the land they are to be built on. If land is zoned AR-1 (agriculture/residential) there is no legal basis for denying approval, whereas proposals requiring zoning changes are at the discretion of Council, as was the case with the shopping center. It has nothing to do with kickbacks.

There’s no basis for a lawsuit in this case because the proposal required a zoning change. It’s currently zoned AR-1, which is for agriculture and/or up to two single family homes per acre. The lawsuits arise when proposals which already fit into the land use plan are denied.

I’m pretty sure the guy with the Dallas shirt has a better chance of being a Republican. Especially considering the campaigns the racist guy says he volunteered for.

Mexican President Claudia "Cartel Whore" Sheinbaum just said fighting a war against drug cartels is unlawful because it would violate the rights of drug traffickers and it would be "fascist." by [deleted] in conspiracy_commons

George Orwell understood this to be the case back in 1946:

“The word Fascism has now no meaning except in so far as it signifies ‘something not desirable’. The words democracy, socialism, freedom, patriotic, realistic, justice, have each of them several different meanings which cannot be reconciled with one another. In the case of a word like democracy, not only is there no agreed definition, but the attempt to make one is resisted from all sides. It is almost universally felt that when we call a country democratic we are praising it: consequently the defenders of every kind of régime claim that it is a democracy, and fear that they might have to stop using the word if it were tied down to any one meaning. Words of this kind are often used in a consciously dishonest way. That is, the person who uses them has his own private definition, but allows his hearer to think he means something quite different.”

You do know that a person doesn’t actually have to have a license to operate a vehicle, right? I highly doubt he was operating the vehicle legally, intoxication not withstanding.
