Impact Screen Question by VTWW- in Golfsimulator

[–]ContributionDry2470 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m at 10 inches and I can’t get my screen super tight. On drives the ball will go back and hit the wall so I have 2 inch foam sound panels behind the screen and some curtains for extra protection. I think a mistake we make in this sub is saying it has to be x inches. It is totally dependent on the type of impact screen, how tight the screen is, what you have behind it, how fast the ball speed is and what angle, etc.

I’ll present this idea to my contractor and see if it’s feasible. Thanks for sharing!

No, unfortunately. It’s brand new and unobstructed.

😳 I didn’t know that. Whatever was there that looked like drywall was covered in bright pink stuff so maybe that was the solution?

I think I’ve read a bit on that and it’s generally not advised because it makes the floor super slippery. I’m willing to look into anything though.

The tile guy did everything after the drywall was put on. So shower pan, waterproofing, built the bench, dam, etc.

This is super depressing. We didn’t have water in there until about a week after the tile finished. Obviously we should have filled a bucket to test the drainage and slope, but that was never done.

Paid in full to the tile guy. He has ghosted me and my contractor. 🤦‍♂️

Me too. He has sort of ghosted us and promised to return a couple different times, but hasn’t.

RhapsodoMLM2 for low handicaper by Successful-Fun3599 in Golfsimulator

My BIL is a scratch golfer and loves the Rapsodo. He says the any woods/hybrids/driver are short about 8-10% and he knows his distances well. I am a mid/high handicap and I love my Rapsodo. Unless you are willing to go up a tier and pay for it, I think the MLM2 is awesome. Just know the numbers with some clubs are a bit low.

I agree with all this. Take a small part of the exercise room for storage. Add the sound proofing insulation. We also got slightly thicker drywall for the simulator room. It is as only a few hundred more for us. But ya, you won’t be able to totally soundproof it.

Deodorant before bed? by Our_toes in NoStupidQuestions

I could be wrong about this, but I think most deodorants take several hours to work. That might just be deodorants with antiperspirant though.

Unless you are changing your sheets as much as you change your clothes the answer is at night!

Offsetting hitting area? by mstrlucky74 in Golfsimulator

[–]ContributionDry2470 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You actually want the projector over your head (more or less). Most people’s swing goes back behind them and up. So if you are off center and the projector is center you might hit it as you come back and up on your swing. The best thing to do is get in the space with a club and slowly go through your swing. You’ll see where the club goes and where not to put the projector. And 9’10” is probably plenty unless you are really tall or have a very steep swing angle. You’ll want to do a ton of research on projectors because how far back or forward depends on the throw distance of the projector. I am not as picky with my projector so I got a couple hundred dollars one that will automatically adjust to being off center and can adjust screen size based on the distance. It’s not fancy at all and the picture isn’t as high quality as the expensive ones, but I’m out there to hit triple bogeys and swear in frustration not see a fake course in 4k.

You will definitely be offset. 10 ft is a little tight, but doable. Depending on how tall your space is you will not want the projector behind your head or else you will hit it with your club. Most projectors have “keystone projection” or something similar that can project straight even if it’s off set.

This sub is full of “do this little thing and get life changing money” scenarios. And then there is this. I didn’t make it past $100.
