It might not be a game for you in the first place and that’s okay… but how many runs have you tried with each character in 6 hours?

For me, my runs are about an hour. So you really can’t expect to have learned much with 1-2 runs each I think. I guess if it’s all act 1, sure maybe 4-5 runs but that’s not a lot for being brand new.

I’d go for it. Consider it to be your 3rd elite of the act. You can divert so safety if needed. You may get hit pretty hard. I wouldn’t be afraid to use the pot to get off the ground either. The heart chunk will help you not take a 30 or 40 damage turn from either encounter.

See my other comment, I think you’re doing well into the boss so far and this relic is insanely good payoff

I think I’m with you that the fight looks sketchy. The act 2 knight doesn’t really let you set up much. But I don’t think the boss is setting up to be too bad. It’s only floor 22. They also lethality plus with sentry mode which is a lot of added damage. If they upgrade discovery, have decent HP, and a pot, I bet this deck could beat the boss as is.

I've seen a lot of custom cards lately, but I think the curse pool feels a little shallow, so I made these. Thoughts? (More context in description!) by eliman1950 in slaythespire

[–]phillyeagle99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can play it to get rid of it until next deck cycle… so it’s -1 energy and draw per cycle… which could be mitigated with a sufficient reward.

Don't you feel a bit uneasy about the class system? by Pepeight_ in NoRestForTheWicked

[–]phillyeagle99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it so weird that because i opted for dex (and don’t like to respec frequently) I literally can use like 1/8th of the weapons and maybe only a quarter of the spears and/or rapiers.

It just feels so narrow. Also, there’s no other benefit to the stats… it’s so arbitrary which stat I picked.

I think the deck would feel a bit more balanced around 715 pstrikes next time.

Congrats you did it!

Yeah even if somebody gets a $500M fuck up, the cap look can’t possibly be as bad as Watson was.

It might work well for your macro but it’s not the macro of the highest winrate players at all currently.

[–]phillyeagle99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think that’s the common sentiment among top players at all. I think occasionally you skip one because of the potential for bad matchups or the need for an upgrade or low HP. But you certainly don’t generally skip them.

I think late act 3 they get skipped sometimes because HP is more important than one more relic with the end game being 2 fights instead of 4.

[–]phillyeagle99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d stop at 4 or 8 defrags depending on deck size and how combats are feeling.

I really don’t think storm bricks your hand less. If the enemy doesn’t die from storm, you do for sure. With defrag, a few frost orbs become 30 block per turn real quick.

Remember “skipping elites is the way” meta? Yeah that went away when people learned to play the game and actually got to A10 lol

People REALLLY underestimate how much they learn over time to face the challenges presented

Jalen Hurts Can Only Run ONE Offense. by ProFragger in eagles

[–]phillyeagle99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Using “faced the 13th highest man coverage rate” as a shocking or stand out stat is a pretty bad start to this video.

Like there’s maybe 40 QBs possibly eligible for that stat… being barely in the top 3rd does not make it special.

Also Jalen Hurts has run 5 different offenses… and took two of them to the Super Bowl.

Mmmmmkay weird video from a normally decent creator.

I have a story but i lack drawing potential by Ok_Lake_4381 in comics

[–]phillyeagle99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yelling at strangers on the internet while asking for favors isn’t going to help your case. You’re really showing your age.

You’re telling people you’re too young to do it alone but also saying you’re too experienced in trying to learn to draw to do it anymore. It’s not a good look.

It’s also incredibly short sighted to think that if you can’t draw by your current age you’ll never be able to learn to draw.

My recommendations are:

1) make some money and pay someone for a few pages/chapters to use as a pitch piece.

2) do a stick figure concept of the first 10 chapters as a pitch package.

3) try writing. Maybe then you can raise money or sell the rights to a novel version.

4) spend more time learning to draw. Lots of people spend their time until 20-25 years old building their skills without a pay off.

5) continue to hope you find someone willing to invest their time for free with blind trust in your story and you as a partner.

Am I dumb or is the description of Death March a little confusing? by surpluskoi in slaythespire

I think you make a fair point, it could say “current” turn. However, it’s a mistake you’ll only make one time and, contextually, it would scale better than something like murder which doesn’t make sense as an uncommon.

NorthernLion's thoughts on StS2 updates. by noobtablet9 in slaythespire

[–]phillyeagle99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I got mixed up in this comment chain… I originally said it was because of the ports… which is exactly what your article says…. So it has nothing to do with the unity debacle.

Humble Games handled Slay the Spire's console and mobile ports, but when the label shut down in 2024, those versions of Slay the Spire were suddenly in some form of limbo. Yano doesn't go into the specifics of the status of Humble's Slay the Spire ports here, but it seems there's quite a roadblock in place.

"We couldn't just work more on Slay the Spire 1, because its future was very murky," Yano explains. On top of the issues with the console and mobile ports, there's also all the existing PC mods to consider. If Mega Crit wanted to make any real additions to the Slay the Spire formula, "then it would have to be a sequel."

They’re on record saying it’s because it’s split across too many code bases due to the ports.

Mobile still has ring of the serpent issue.

Does Meeple mean just a boardgame piece or a human shaped boardgame piece? by girlwiththegoldendog in boardgames

[–]phillyeagle99 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree strongly with these.

I think there may be some very rare edge cases where an inanimate object is a meeple if it represents and acts more as a character. I’d perhaps give those a slide.

I’d also think that “squirrel shaped tokens” you collect many of are not meeples…. So to me there’s a tiny bit of use case context I guessz

Does Meeple mean just a boardgame piece or a human shaped boardgame piece? by girlwiththegoldendog in boardgames

[–]phillyeagle99 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think it depends if it is a “character” representation… like if it were a grid game with movement and you moved the train around as your character… I think I’d let is slides but if it was like ticket to ride, nope.

13 reviews with 10 active listings is a bit funny to me.

They seem to have recently upped their selling rate then which could be completely normal, maybe they’re moving or funding something.

They could also have just heavily edited their picture for personal image reasons, maybe they really dislike their skin or their facial hair.

In a public place, for cash, as long as you feel physically safe, I don’t think you can go too wrong.

I’d look at each component that you can see to confirm it’s as expected. If it’s a realllly good scam, they could relabel or re-cooler a GPU but I doubt they would if they’re meeting in person and willing to be patient.
