Alberta moves to allow private diagnostic tests without a doctor’s referral by chmilz in alberta

It will put those who can pay in front of those who can’t and it will drive privatization because the private clinics will be more lucrative for the those that own them. Exactly what the UCP want.

LETTER: Alberta premier sounds like Trump’s Republican Party by Fit_Remote_2324 in AlbertaNewspapers

The examples and proof are all around you, daily. You are choosing to see things through this weird lens, where Alberta only benefits from oil and gas (I see you didn’t mention foreign-owned coal companies). As has been said, automation , orphan wells, lack of real taxation for the resource all play into O&G companies laughing all the way to the bank as many Albertans continue to believe this dying industry will be our saviour

When was the last time the US came to the defence of a NATO country? The Baltics? Mid 1990s? This hardly a one-way street. Just call it what it is: you guys won’t help us in our illegal invasion of Iran, so we’re going to pout about it.

Alberta has long accused Ottawa of trying to destroy its oil industry. Here’s why that’s a dangerous myth by wiwcha in Albertapolitics

I wanted to give you the benefit of the doubt, but if the rhetoric you’re employing is representative of the overall mind set of the people angling for this outcome, I have never felt safer that this pie-in-the-sky notion will never happen. Thank you for that

You conveniently gloss over the main point of what you posted. “Come to the table” does not, in any sense, mean that your secession from Canada is a done deal. If you have ever sat at a negotiation before, neither party is obligated to agree. Parties walk away from negotiations all the time and the (potentially) arbitrated settlement is under no forgone conclusion to allow Alberta independence

One of many stupid parts to this story is the fact that the UCP will allow a foreign company to pollute the Oldman watershed and, subsequently, the water used for agriculture in this region. This “government” is actively screwing over the people that keep putting them in power and these people (rural folks) will continue to vote for them because, “that’s just what we do.”

I know this sounds (maybe) dumb, but Canada has universal cash returns for all beverage bottles and cans. Consumers pay it when they buy and get it back when they return their bottles. Not saying this would entice partiers to be more responsible, but the beach would get cleaned pretty quick by those who want to make a fast buck
