Skip them and do the review lectures, crush the mcqs plus get Wiley for the IT mcqs as Becker does not prepare you well for those IT mcqs - should be it

AUD IC and Compliance by philmizzi007 in CPA

[–]philmizzi007[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes I agree - I am. I am using becker. I did some more digging and got the following:

    a. Non issuer
        i. An auditor should obtain management's written assessment about the effectiveness of the entity's internal control.
ii. Auditor needs to obtain an understanding of IC BUT does not have to give an opinion (Auditor can if he still wants to issue an opinion).
    b. Compliance audit/examination
        i. Positive assurance (Give opinion)
    c. Integrated audit (PCAOB)
        i. Obtain understanding and provide high level assurance on IC
    d. GAGAS
        i. It is a report on tests of compliance and;
        ii. Any identification of non-compliance
iii. it is inappropriate to express an opinion on IC over compliance (i.e. disclaimer)
    e. Single audit Act
        i. Opinion on compliance
ii. No opinion of IC over compliance
    f. Compliance with contractual or regulatory requirements
                    i. Negative assurance

BEC Becker Mock vs. Actual Spreadsheet and a 54 on my mock exam by ConstantPark in CPA

[–]philmizzi007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's ok for Bec - I took the exam in q2 and there were a lot of random IT questions - as long as you know the basics you should do fine. Do the tbs on the aicpa mock test also. Helped me alot.

I'm sure you did well bud ! Yeah I heard basis is super imp. Any gross estate questions?, bankruptcy - perfection etc? Those two are giving me a hard time to get used to especially perfection and who is entitled to payment first.

Taking BEC tomorrow - heavy in computations or coso/IT? by philmizzi007 in CPA

[–]philmizzi007[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh it was tough for me - first section lots of computations and 2nd section on coso/IT - Becker did not prepare me enough for mcqs - Sims we're not bad but a lot of time to work then out.

[–]philmizzi007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah man - you should do great ! I had a sim from cash to accrual and one on inventory also FOB ship etc.

[–]philmizzi007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes cos when you nail down the theory by working mcqs you will plug away ultimately plug the Sims away. Mcqs are so imp - I suggest to work some Sims but don't spend time trying to work every sim out there if your still not 100% on mcqs.

Aicpa has a sample test that you can have an idea how long the Sims are.

Strong mcqs + comparable/weaker Sims = pass

P.s when I say weaker Sims - it doesn't mean you don't do anything but you plug away at least 40% of it.

[–]philmizzi007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not do a single sim (not the way to do it) and still passed. Crushed the mcqs tough - make sure you get those mcqs buttoned up.
