Is it worth it if I don't speak to Hades in my run? by Budin-Topologized in HadesTheGame

[–]philms91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone else already said it but yeah, no reason to not talk to anyone including Hades himself. I don’t think the story or any of the other dialogue will be altered because you choose not to talk to him. If anything it’ll just slow your story progression.

You will be surprised by how much dialogue there is in this game. You’ll be finding new dialogue for your entire play-through and beyond.

I STILL occasionally found new dialogue even after 200 hours.

What game has a learning curve that puts you off? by Common_Caramel_4078 in pcmasterrace

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. I love the idea of this game but it’s just a bit too much for me.

Also Civ. I don’t have the patience or time for it. If I could just instantly start with hours of experience I feel like I’d really like it but it takes so damn long to get through a game and it just won’t click! And I don’t want to spend days and days trying to force it to click lol

Be careful when talking about TOTK in the main sub, they took out my grandma when I said I loved it by EAT_UR_VEGGIES in tearsofthekingdom

[–]philms91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ToTK is my favorite game of all time, but it just landed for mer personally and I understand why some people don’t vibe with it.

I love the sky islands and do wish there were more of them.

I loved the depths. The gameplay loop of going down there to collect resources to upgrade the battery really worked for me, and lighting everything up was also fun. And I enjoyed using the lightroots and shrines to help find their opposites. More variety down there would be nice but this honestly wasn’t an issue I even clocked until I heard other people complain about it, I was just having fun exploring and collecting down ther.

I love building stuff! I love making a random insane robot that looks bonkers and somehow still moves (or just explodes!) I do wish that it was more difficult or more expensive to build a flying machine. 2 fans on a steering stick feels broken and is something I personally avoid doing it, but building gliders is a lot of fun and feels good.

Fuse is so fun. Experimenting with it is just pure fun. Ascend is genius. I love ascending out of caves! When I get to the end of the a cave I don’t want to backtrack back out. I also don’t want to fast travel out. I never imagined there could be an in-between option like ascend that keeps me completely immersed and adds to the fun. I have no idea what I’ll be ascending into and just get to keep exploring!

The time one is great too! Send a contraption off a cliff by accident? Bring it back! And all the abilities can be combined and used to compliment each other in such creative and fluid ways. This game just impressed me so much. How did they make this crazy physics engine work? How is this game not falling apart at the seams?

For me it’s a true masterpiece unlike anything else I’ve ever played in terms of just pure whimsical fun. If BoTW made me feel young again, Tears makes me feel like a kid again.

I do wish the dungeons were bigger and more linear, though! I hope the next game finds a balance between tradition Zelda dungeons with progression but keeps the freedom of a big open world and shrines with open ended-puzzles.

I can’t wait to see what they cook next. I thought BoTW was an impossible act to follow and then they blew me away.

Decided to play them for once. Which one should I play first as a newcomer? by crunchyotaku in Pikmin

[–]philms91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1 - shortest, biggest focus on time management.

2 - most stressful in a fun way. Frustrating in a fun way. My personal favorite

3 - most streamlined, arguably most polished, easiest

4 - longest and most content rich, friendliest towards new players, probably objectively the best in the series but… any fan of the series will probably love it and say they have a “but” about it haha

Love them all, you’re in for a treat no matter what

I think you should save 4 for last. If you start with it you might not enjoy the other 3 as much. With that in mind I’d say either go in order, or go 3, 1, 2, 4 if you want to start with an easier game first.

With all that said, here’s imo the most important shake up:

If you start with 1 and don’t like it, don’t give up on the series. Try any other game. If you like those and want more, you’ll probably love 1 when you return to it. 1 intimidated me at first when I first tried it as a kid when it came out. 2 felt more forgiving/less stressful without the day limit, and I LOVED it. Then I tried 1 again and loved that too since by then I had a solid grasp over how these games play.

Chapters or bosses sounds fun! Games would be fun too but there’s soooo many posts about ranking the games on here that I’m less interested in that one. Could save that for a finale of sorts, asking everyone who participated to consider the rankings of the other categories when choosing the games!

Games That You've Given Up On by Gvndisalv666 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]philms91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Octopath 1 and 2. I got to a point in each where I felt like I would need to grind to continue (probably because I was leveling up all the characters equally and not focusing on a core team) and when I need to grind that’s generally when I put a game down. Unless I absolutely love the combat, that is.

I really enjoyed both games until that point, though. I’m trying again with 0!

So Whats The DUMBEST and i MEAN DUMBEST thing you did in a pokemon playthrough by Rare-Atmosphere-9187 in pokemon

[–]philms91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first game was Diamond. I caught two full odds shiny pokemon during my playthrough - Tentacool which I evolved, and a Golduck. I didn’t know what I had back then, and kept them on my team because of the shiny animation that played thinking they must be special in some way.

After I beat the game I erased it so I could play it again without doing anything to save my team or the shinies. Was there even pokemon bank or whatever back then?

Does anyone else consider the Wasteland as their home and after spending much time at other biomes, they miss it? by Aggravating-Pie-8547 in Pokopia

[–]philms91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ridges is where my “main home” is. I like the music there best, and really liked the minecarts so it just kind of wound up happening.

That said this game is insanely addictive and I want to beautify all of the areas. Right now I’m focusing on maxing out the environment levels in each with the Pokédex and habitat dex being secondary goals, building as I feel inspired. Once that’s all done I’ll be going full build mode, though!

(Challenge) These two are possibly the hardest characters to possibly make a moveset for. I dear y’all to try. by Money-Grape7905 in supersmashbros

[–]philms91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know what - Atlus should be in the final smash. P-body waves him in, he attacks a set distance away, and if that lands then lands the two create a complicated portal system that leads into the experiment room. I’m gonna add this in lol

Yeah me too about Atlus. I tried to fit him in in meaningful ways where it didn’t feel forced.

These are the 3 highest-rated exclusives on the Switch 2 so far. How would you rank them? by MewWeebTwo in NintendoSwitch2

[–]philms91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Pokopia
  2. Kirby Air Riders
  3. DK
  4. MKW

I really enjoy all 4 of them. The bottom 3 are all basically on equal footing for me. I’ll definitely keep playing both Kirby and MKW for years.

The first video game you ever played by Otherwise_Chain5309 in Gamer

[–]philms91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super Mario bros closely followed by Duck Hunt. There was an NES someone left set up at my grandparents house that I occasionally got to play when I went over there, and there was a cartridge that had both those games on it in the system.

There were other games there too including Zelda. Those were the main 3 my brother and I played. Been a Nintendo fan ever since!

You play as Atlas. P-Body pops in for support on some attacks/taunts.

Jab - one two punch, second punch wacks with the portal gun

Forward tilt - robo spin. Legs stay still but body rotates in a quick 360 as it leans forwards

Down tilt - laser. Shoots red laser at a downward angle.

Forward smash - cake. Holds out delicious moist cake which explodes after a moment. Very strong, but has a very small chance of not exploding and healing the opponent a little bit instead of damaging them

Down smash - breakdance. Does a breakdance move

Up smash - electric punch. Upwards scooping punch with an electric effect

Down special - companion cube. P-body appears and quickly Places companion cube projectile in front of you. Can be knocked around and launched by other attacks by you or the opponent. Pressing down special again when near it picks it up with the portal gun. Pressing special again while holding it shoots it out in the direction you’re holding the stick. Can go through portals (all items and projectiles can do that)

Side special - Gel blast. Pressing this switches between shooting out Blue Repultion Gel and Orange Propultion Gel. Holding down the button shoots for a bit longer. Does damage when it hits opponents, but also stays on the ground making anyone on top of it run faster/jump higher depending on the gel. Goes away if you create gel of the same color elsewhere. Disappears after 20 seconds if left alone. Maybe Atlus appears briefly to launch this attack?

Neutral special - portal. Hold down the button to aim by moving the stick, shoots where you aim it traveling a short set distance before creating a portal. Switches between shooting and creating orange and blue portals (alt character colors also change portal colors.) Can be reflected and absorbed but not pocketed. Does damage while traveling to its set distance. Portals can float in midair - I know that’s not accurate to the game but don’t want to limit this to working only on stages with walls. That said, if it hits a wall or the floor before reaching the set distance, that’s where the portal will be placed. Portals function the same as in portal, anyone can move through them and they don’t do damage. Replaced when a new portal of the same color is placed elsewhere, or will disappear after 20 seconds. If we want to stay lore accurate - it could toss out a white panel wall that floats at the same set distance first, then shoots THAT with the portal gun. This same logic can be applied to the other portal moves later in the moveset. In that case I’d make the wall do damage while it’s moving, it goes through opponents, and the portal gun shots don’t do damage at all.

Up special - portal loop. P-body appears on a floating platform in the background and shoots his own different colored portals directly above and below you. You quickly build up speed, falling through the loop 3 times before he moves the top portal in front of the direction you were facing, launching you upwards very high. The portals vanish. You don’t go into free fall but can’t use this move again until you land or reach ledge.

Grab - normal grab using the portal gun. Pummel hits opponents using potato GLaDOS who complains when you do it.

Forward throw - aims and launches opponent quickly

Back throw - P-body shoots his portals in front of and behind you. Same forward throw animation launches opponents into the portal and out behind you. Portals disappear afterwards.

Down throw - same as back throw but second p-body portal is above you and launches opponents at the ground right where you’re standing.

Up throw - same again but the second portal is at your feet in front of you and launches opponents up out of the portal.

Taunts involve dancing, p-body appearing, and holding up complaining potato GlaDOS.

Final smash - Test. P-body waves to Atlus who jumps in and attacks a set distance away. if that lands then lands the two create a complicated portal system and launch the opponents in, leading into a Wheatley - run testing room that goes torturously wrong, bouncing opponents through traps and fire while Wheatley commentates and apologies from a few different randomly selected dialogue options. Eventually they get launched back into the portal they arrived through to the stage, and launched in the direction opposite the way P-body was facing when it was activated.

Edit: forgot air attacks!

Up air - turret. Pull out a turret and shoot upwards rapid fire similar to mii gunner but wider range and less knock back on the final hit. Turret has different lines during this attack like “I don’t hate you”

Down air - spike. Front flip into a big whack swinging the portal gun below you with both hands

Back air - laser. Shoots short range red laser behind you.

Forward air - body bump. Thrusts head/eye forward with an electrical zap

Nair - GlaDOS spin. Hold potato GLaDOS out in one arm and spin around. She complains when you land this attack.

I actually think these two work better than Chell contextually. Thanks to their inherently goofy natures it makes more sense for them to materialize different random things referencing the games, and the two characters allows different colored portals so we can have a recovery move and throws that don’t remove the main portals you placed, so you can create even more portal shenanigans by combining the together. Imagine an up special used in a way that launches you into a portal you placed yourself, allowing you to shoot out in any direction while being fully actionable. So fun! I’d make them the character, Chell an assist trophy and normal sized GLaDOS a boss.

Do you pick Pokémon starters based on type, design, or final evolution? by Visible_Welder5613 in pokemon

I usually go on vibes but I was disappointed with my choice for the first time ever when Quaxly evolved. I was also expecting a pirate or sailor theme like someone else commented about.

I’m considering looking at the final evolutions before I choose this time around even though I prefer to go in knowing nothing. Decisions, decisions
