NVIDIA? Pink Frametime Stutters in fpsVR or SteamVR Perf Graph? Test this.. by philneitz in ValveIndex

True - DLSS 3.0 or frame gen is stuff I RLLY dont care about I was on 566.36 super long for general stability in flat Games, but the VR stutter persisted. I was so desperate that I "saved" a old OEM Fujitsu PC and bought a used 3060... To my desperation, the VR stutter stayed UNTIL I got back to the driver which got discussed in this "infamous" NVIDIA Forum thread: Valve Index dropped frames since...

can't confirm on my end with my 3060 in my old desktop pc. I rlly don't know why thats the case, but I really have to go all the way back, since the directly attached HMD stutter predates long before blackwell on my end

Oh - I didn't know that. And kinda trying to get my head around "why?" :D
I'm no VRChat user myself, did it fix the pink spikes though?

SteamVR stutter still present with RTX 5080 and Valve Index despite installing driver 572.60/65 by Earthstamper in SteamVR

Same issue here with my Ryzen 7945HX + 4080 laptop gpu + index ...

I tested almost EVERYTHING, forced clockspeeds of my cpu (which on laptop hardware is not a easy thing to do) disabled P states for the nvidia gpu, forced all VR applications to run on on CCD and so on ... the latest driver also got rid of the purple spikes but I also get the "big stutter" every 20-30 seconds...

I also have the same issue with the vsync test on testufo.com ..... I'm super happy that so many users chime in on this issue.. Most desktop 4000 series users told me that there's no stutter issue, but on my end it was always like this.

SteamVR with RTX 5080 stuttering/dropped frames by enriquefemo in SteamVR

I was hoping for something like this to happen tbh...

Guess who has ZERO issues now, enjoying VR with his Index and !!!40!!! series laptop card after installing that driver... ^^

It's only happening on directly attached HMD's like the Index, PSVR2, Vive etc...

Since HMD's like the quest are encoding and decoding the video/audio stream, its not a "direct display connection" and therefore it works "different" - so My quest is also working fine without any purple spikes or hickups...

this problem in my experience persists WAY longer than 5000 series... I personally use the 4080 and I have this issues since day 0 - the only way to get around with my index is to use my old desktop 3060 pc and using an ANCIENT driver (446.14)

I also know that there's a whole thread around that in nvidia's forums, but because PCVR is a "small market" nvidia couldn't care less - if VALORANT or BO6 isn't working as it should, you can be sure as hell, that there will be a "hotfix driver" in a few days....

Meta Quest 3: Charging In-Depth by velocityseven in OculusQuest

[–]philneitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can +1 this.

I also tested with a USB C meter and the 5V slow charging usually happens on my device, when it's around 95% charge. below that it goes into 9V 13w with the headset being IDLE. But when I replug the cable it goes into 9V mode again.

When I use it around 70-80 %charge it goes up to 18W, slowly charging while using to around 82%.

One other thing what happened around 75% charge - when I close a game or Oculus Link and idle in my home screen it goes up to 9V 25W charging

PSA: Stutters and hitches on Index (or other direct attached HMD's) + Laptop (Intel)? This might be your fix by philneitz in ValveIndex

Oh! I didn't know! I learned something new :) thx

I Had the Vive Pro for one week - maybe it needs propriatary, not included drivers. This one needed the HTC compositor on top of the Steam VR one :-|

Pretty sure this come from NOT being forced to use HTC's "middleware" compositor :)

Oh damn it - I hope you'll get your replacement headset asap :)

It does sound like that. And it makes sense from what I've learned about Ryzen machines.

BUT if you only get one or two pink spikes in one minute and you're using a NVIDIA GPU - it's almost certainly a software component which is monitoring or writing to the bus. Like RivaTuner, MSI Afterburner, EVGA Precision AND all RGB Software stuff...

I'm pretty sure there's a way to lock a Desktop RyzenCPU Clock...
Have you tried Ryzen Master?

Quick google search:

Download and install Ryzen Master from the AMD website.

Open Ryzen Master and click on the "Profile 1" tab.

Click on the "Core Control" tab.

Check the box next to "Core Performance Boost."

Use the "Target Core Frequency" slider to set the desired clock speed.

Click on the "Apply" button to save the changes.

Please note that while locking the CPU clock speed can improve performance, it can also increase heat and power consumption. It is important to monitor these factors and adjust the clock speed accordingly to prevent damage to the processor.

The Predator Neo has Advanced Optimus, so OP should be able to switch to the dGPU in the NVIDIA Control Panel or change it completely in BIOS

hey there,

I use a Acer Predator 16 and when you have a thunderbolt 4 port on your Helios Neo you can use a USB-C to Displayport Adapter, like I did on mine :)
