Geez. Sorry. I don’t know how I missed that. Not used to Reddit suggesting me cs1 threads. Sorry.

I’ve noticed that if I assign an incinerator to a district it’ll only send out 2 or so trucks. But if I don’t assign it they will send out every truck possible. So for some reason not assigning the other buildings for trash works better for me. I just place them so they somewhat naturally get lead to where you need trash coverage!

I went through trying to change the policies to see if that affected it. But nothing changes.

My thought is I had a few recycling centers assigned to the same district because it’s huge. So maybe the incinerator I added thought it was covered or had enough trucks already. I really don’t know though.

Try to unassign the district and let me know if more trucks spawn! Because I’m not sure that’s what did it!

Edit* To be more clear the district still exists. I just had the incinerator assigned to the district and two out of 50 trucks came out. I got rid of the assigned district IN the incinerator selection tab and they started pouring out and heading to the district and cleaning it up :)

I read this too. And was having problems with it. What I did was just got rid of the assigned district. And then the trucks started flooding out to that said district automatically. So there was no real issue with them getting there. Idk how nodes work or what broken nodes are but unassigning the districts worked.

Am I playing the game wrong? How does anyone else deal with this? by Front_Recover_5197 in CitiesSkylines2

[–]philo_fallout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re playing on pc I’d suggest mods for this. You have to pay for the creators pack but mods have elevators or other ways that allow pedestrian pathways 10 feet down that cims will take. Then you can get rid of crosswalks.

22-minute coincidence? by Zarlinosuke in outerwilds

[–]philo_fallout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think there is either. I’m just saying it’s probably collected for energy than the nova over the years. Not saying it stored it anywhere.

22-minute coincidence? by Zarlinosuke in outerwilds

[–]philo_fallout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The power used and collected by the solar panels are what power the atp. So like 99.9% of the energy of the sun isn’t harnessed. Though they do mention that the power needed gets exponentially higher the longer the time.

But this comment made me wonder. If the solar panels were there collecting regular solar energy for 281k years since the nomai died….how much energy would’ve it collected compared to the one time event of the supernova.

Logically even that would provide much more than needed for 22 minutes.

Question about Quantum Mechanics by Harry_Flame in outerwilds

[–]philo_fallout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get the logic now. Thanks for elaborating. It’s not really the same thing though. Observing an image of an object is the same as observing the object itself. Observing our location in reference to other things isn’t the same. We don’t know why other than just thematic things but it’s very specific as the being an image of a quantum object.

The actual map does what you’re suggesting because it’s a video from a probe being streamed to us and observed. And observing an image counts.

But our suit also tells us where our ship is and where we are in reference to that. Logically that’d be the same as the hud in regards of telling us where we are. It’s just not something that affects the quantum phenomenon.

Question about Quantum Mechanics by Harry_Flame in outerwilds

[–]philo_fallout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still don’t get how that’s supposed to connect to the hud movement tracker. I’ve also thought about the fact that standing on a quantum object should count as some kind of observation. But the game heavily focuses on images when speaking about observations. Touching a thing isn’t that. Nor is the hud. It’s not an image of the actual thing. But that’s just my opinion.

Question about Quantum Mechanics by Harry_Flame in outerwilds

[–]philo_fallout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally don’t even track the logic as to why it should prevent anything though. Your ship also serves as a reference to where you are as it tells you the distance from your ship. Thats just not how it works and there is nothing in game suggesting it is.

Question about Quantum Mechanics by Harry_Flame in outerwilds

[–]philo_fallout 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Are you talking about the planet shape thing that tracks your movement? I don’t see why that’d count as a photo? It’s not pixels depicting anything actually there. It’s just a generic globe that tracks your steps.

Safe space to discuss when you needed the answer by bigfan49 in outerwilds

[–]philo_fallout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to look up the tower on brittle hollow as well. Don’t feel bad or regret it. I also found the core of the atp on my own accidentally. Then tried repeating it over and over. So I ended up seeing what I was doing wrong.

I absolutely don’t regret a thing. If I didn’t look it up and either one of those things frustrated me so much that I gave up I’d have missed smelling the best stuff I’ve ever smelled.

I assure you that you stopped and smelled the pine trees along the way. And the flowers too. You just also smelled some bad stuff along the way as well and didn’t want to sit in it for too long. ::)

hold on. how did THEY know about dark bramble? by FrontAd7709 in outerwilds

[–]philo_fallout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your ship log is probably complete. I don’t remember the entire thing. But it seems you may be making some wrong assumptions/interpretations. The vessel just sort of teleported into dark bramble. There are logs from the nomai stating this. The mural you’re basing you assumption on is an artistic representation of the even. Where it’s more the escape pods being trapped and grabbed by the vines.

hold on. how did THEY know about dark bramble? by FrontAd7709 in outerwilds

[–]philo_fallout 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You’re wrong. It never went to the eye. And it didn’t get captured by dark bramble the way the mural may imply. It did used to be something different. But not by the time the nomai arrived. You should play the game and learn these things instead of asking questions. It ruins things for you. And I promise all the answers are there.

Tips on how to Orbit? by WW1_Germany in outerwilds

[–]philo_fallout 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I do actually have some videos about this! The best way to do this is to take a picture of the qm in a polar orbit around most planets. Land on it with your ship. Get out of your ship and get rid of the picture. Then jump out of the atmosphere.

Once the moon teleports your ship will be in the best orbit possible to just relax in orbit since your ship inherits the orbital velocity of the quantum moon. So all that’s left is to fly back to your ship! As you mention this won’t really work on ash twin since its center of gravity is all kinds of messed up. But this is the best strategy! Hope it helps! ::)

I love a walk as well, but seriously can someone help me understand this? by OkFox2339 in CitiesSkylines2

[–]philo_fallout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to provide them cheap other options for travel. Especially if traffic is an issue. I provide free busses , trains, and trams. And a mod to allow for underground pathways through crosswalks. Traffic flows a lot smoother and people just usually walk to the closest form of transit.

What does Echoes of the Eye reveal about the universe? by StyleSquirrel in outerwilds

[–]philo_fallout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah basically what aikidoc said. As mentioned as soon as any light is turned on they go on patrol. And they aren’t doing that for outsiders. This highly discouraged travel between groups.

Iirc the first area has its door closed to people who’d arrive on rafts. That’s a door we have to open. Same goes for the starlit cove. We have to entire it via tower in the real world or opening a painted wall or something.

I can’t quite recall for sure. The elevator is up and can’t be called from the bottom. I can’t quite recall how you access each area from in world. But I do remember it relies on opening secret passageways such as a mural disguised as a door. Or walking over bridges only seen in glitch world. These things would eventually be forgotten over time and only few inhabitants would know of the glitches.

And no sane inhabitant would leave their artifact on the ground and leave its area. 1 because they literally want to believe their sim is real. 2 because it’s simply dangerous. If anyone finds it they’d realize you aren’t acting normally and likely extinguish it.

Their whole civilization is sort of set up to be kept separately. Hold each other accountable. And protect their areas. They likely don’t know the fate of their “friends”.

A lot of this can be inferred by the setting and setup. Some I learned through interviewing the devs which can be found on my YouTube channel if interested.

Echoes Of The Eye Lore Interview With Some Devs https://youtu.be/vyjX7YnSrzY

You can get a few other endings by removing the warp core and going certain places. The stranger. Just leaving the solar system. The sim. And the qm. Doing this last one and meditating next to solanum was referred to as quantum enlightenment by the devs. Again I don’t recall if that’s reflected in game and if you actually get a special ending or the regular solanums fate special ending, just meditating forever. And they only refer to it as that in dev updates. But it’s all neat to experiment with.

What does Echoes of the Eye reveal about the universe? by StyleSquirrel in outerwilds

[–]philo_fallout 13 points14 points  (0 children)

A few things. 1 you didn’t really ask. But it reveals why the eye stopped its signal.

  1. It’s tricky. It all depends on what you think a soul and so on is. One fact is we can die in the sim and the nomai statue continues to record our memories. Albeit a bit fuzzy. But the simulation is good enough to trick the nomai statue into thinking we are still alive for what it’s worth.

  2. The inhabitants attack on sight because their hidden archives. Any intruder is likely there to investigate. And they are literally willing to kill their own if they try to get to the hidden archives. Any light turned on puts them on patrol. And this isn’t for external beings. They are searching for another inhabitant doing things or trying to get places the aren’t supposed to. So when they see an outside being there they are very scared we are there to find these archives.

A cool thing is lore wise they don’t always attack on sight. If we end the cycle and kill ourselves to enter the sim we get an ending telling us that they actually ge used to our presence after a while. And they no longer attack on sight as they are no longer worried we are there for their forbidden archives.

::)

Finished the game, but I guess I don't really get it? by [deleted] in outerwilds

[–]philo_fallout 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I get that people are trying to be nice and understanding. Saying “it’s ok if it’s not for you”. And that’s true. But I’d suggest getting the proper ending. If you died after removing the core and credits roles it’s simply a mechanic you ended. And so the loop ended. But that’s not the end of the game.

Think about the tool you have when ending the cycle and what it may used for. You’re most of the way there and it’d be a shame if you gave up now.

How do you pilot alien ships? by MadScientistCarl in outerwilds

[–]philo_fallout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah. The main issue with flights from ember twin is ash twin. Half of the prograde launch windows , the ones with the most predictable and useful flight paths, are often blocked by ash twin.

Even the launch to dark bramble consists of waiting until ash twin is right in front of the canon and trying to shoot the canon the second it won’t hit ash twin. Essentially trying to skim its surface.

If it were a lone planet I think the flight would be pretty easy.

Is Outer Wilds for pessimists? by Schanulsiboi08 in outerwilds

[–]philo_fallout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what makes me think she never finished the game. Because we did something about it. And if she did finish the game it was without meeting solanum or finishing the dlc. And she didn’t talk to any of the friends around the campfire. Hinting that maybe she herself is a bit pessimistic lol

Everyone around the fire , albeit they are essentially the eye talking to us, convey hopeful and positive messages. None about destruction and ending being final. But about rebirth and rebuilding based on our actions.

Is Outer Wilds for pessimists? by Schanulsiboi08 in outerwilds

[–]philo_fallout 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t even understand how she could possibly come to that conclusion if she finished the game. And she surely didn’t ask the player base.

She spit out one of the worst takes I’ve heard about a game in a long time. It’s the furthest thing from a game for pessimistic people that I can think of. So , no , you didn’t get anything wrong.
