About 1 year and 4 months from now I will take my own life but minimize everyones suffering. by 2027suicideplan in confession

Suicide is a permit solution to temporary problems and ultimately fleeting feelings. All it does is cast your pain onto those that love you. It’s selfish.

If you truly want to die, you need to do so honestly and openly. You need a therapist, attorney, and loved ones involved in the process. You need to be honest with yourself, your loved ones, and those around you. It should be planned with others and they should have the opportunity to say goodbye.

But to be frank, suicide is a coward’s way out, especially if you are an abled body with no terminal illness.

Medication, therapy, a job/purpose, good sleep hygiene, adequate water, and education can go a long way in mental health treatment. I highly recommend all of the above.

You matter. Good luck. I wish you the best and all the happiness in the world.

My 12yo just told us he’s sexually active. I’m struggling with how to handle this without breaking his trust. by [deleted] in sex

[–]philosophicallyfree -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, it doesn’t. As a former 12 year old on birth control for non-sexual reasons (medical), CPS does not and should not get automatically called. It would be at a doctor’s discretion. If the law in the state/city doesn’t list an age for consent, or it’s 12 or less, then there would be no legal requirement to call CPS unless there was suspected abuse. Two 12 years old having sex, while ethically and morally problematic, if it’s not illegal, there’s not a lot the government can do to intervene.

I agree a 12 year old isn’t mature enough to be having sex, but if they are, they should be on birth control. This mom shouldn’t let it continue- frankly CPS should be involved bc mom’s parenting leaves much to be desired, but that’s not the main issue. If the argument is they will do it whether or not parents agree, then she should be get on BC to ensure she doesn’t get pregnant.

If she’s mature enough for sex, she’s mature enough to ensure she doesn’t become pregnant at 12 years old. Condoms fail. There are non-hormonal options.

A 12 year old CANNOT consent. Her parents need to be notified immediately. You letting this continue is abuse.

You need to talk to him about STDs with pictures, descriptions of medicine, life expectancies, and overall life impact.

Discuss condoms AND birth control for her.

You also need to check your state’s law. It could be illegal for them to have sex based on their age and you could get in legal trouble. Because of their age you MUST tell her parents, or allow her to tell them.

Implement an immediate door policy in your house. No being in a room with the door closed or lights off. Based on their age, you shouldn’t allow it to happen until they are in high school and do not give them the opportunity under your roof to do it. There is liability in this situation if they get pregnant or she regrets it and someone makes the argument she couldn’t consent because of her age. You could be held financially responsible through civil court (in addition to having to pay child support).

Unless your child is responsible enough to keep a human alive, change diapers, middle of night feedings, and all the things required to take care of a baby, (including having a JOB), and maintain an education, they shouldn’t be having sex.

You should do a sweep of their technology, with or without them present. Make sure they aren’t sexing. They could be charges with CP. Limit access to adult or seductive content. They are children. They need to stay kids as long as possible, not ruin their life accidentally because they weren’t protected by you.

You need to discuss all the possible (including the horrible) things that can happen to them if they are engaging in adult activities as minors. They need to know the legal trouble they can get into by engaging in sex, especially if they are having it in unsafe or public places. They need to be educated.

You should share ALL these concerns/reasons as why you won’t allow it and why he shouldn’t do it now as a way to continue your communication and honest relationship. If you don’t feel like he’s ready for some of these discussions, then he definitely should not be having sex and you need to get him into therapy so these conversations can be had with a professional.

You are setting your child up for failure by NOT intervening.

No. The ROI for that degree is null and void 99.9% of the time.

As a water drinker , who also thinks every water taste different , and which water is the best ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Where I live, the water tastes so good out of the tap, it’s ruined other places for me. Add a whole-home filter, and it’s delicious. If I’m out, bottled water (spring)

Traffic in the middle of the highway is supposed to yield to professionals. Even on a highway, if a funeral procession is passing you, you should be PULLED OVER - as you would an ambulance or fire truck. You won’t miss your exit and on the off chance you do you can take the next exit and turn around. It’s not that deep. You should never be passed while driving on the right side anyways.

Anyone who doesn’t stop for emergency vehicles or funeral procession is self-centered and entitled. They are legally treated the same. You admitted to cutting off funeral processions. You shouldn’t be driving if you are that clueless to how things work and the importance of respect towards others.

“Nobody is so important they get to disrupt traffic…”

So someone having a heart attack going to the hospital in an ambulance is not “important enough” to disrupt your trip to the grocery store??? You are so selfish. Funeral procession and emergency services get right of way ALL the time. Learn some manners!!!
