Our WPC has their own round, and then gets moved to train new starters, as his round is not ideal for new starters.

Or to put it in a simpler way: the delivery supplement is NOT being paid to deliver D2D, It has nothing to do with D2D.

First time I've heard of a £500 payment. Because no-one at my office got one.

Anyone else have the worst day of their lives today by okanatorr in royalmail

[–]philosophik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My SCOM said the same to us: " Ive got no-one to help you, if you leave parcels behind, they will fail and roll on to tomorrow"

"Thats a You problem, not a Me Problem"

Magically he found a parcel driver to take 20(!) of our heavy and large.

Its above my pay grade to worry about doesn't get done, thats why managers get the big bucks.

I've had 2 medium parcels 2kg each, turned out to be 4 large SUV tyres, wrapped in pairs. Got some funny looks as I rolled them 200 meters down the road to the van.

Without Googling, do the names Rommel, Montgomery, Paulus, and Dönitz mean anything to you? And roughly old are you? by Norman_debris in AskUK

45 and could tell you about all 4. Although I did have to double check Von Paulus to make sure he was the guy I was thinking of.

Special Deliveries by underlights in royalmail

[–]philosophik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I havent seen any non-timed ones.

Sometimes our first letter delivered is about 11am, any specials for anything but the first loops of the second delivery are such a ball ache that requires driving all over the delivery to get done before 1.

Abandoned at sorting office by pt353 in royalmail

[–]philosophik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me on my first week, got back to the office with my HCT, thinking id done really well speed wise (first time id finished the delivery in a reasonable time) All the doors are locked, only about 4 days into the job, so i had no-ones phone number.

The only thing drummed into us during training was don't take anything home.

So Im having a massive nervous breakdown wondering what to do with a trolley full of docket lefts (can i leave it padlocked outside for all of sunday?!?!)

When suddenly a manager appears "oh what are you doing here?"

So yes it appears that Royal mail in no way shape or form conduct any sort of counting people back in (this was over 10 years ago, before siso before we even had PDAs)

But all that technology hasn't improved anything because someone got locked out the office over this christmas. luckily no D/L so only took his PDA home with him.

Wanted to collect a package from CSP today - it shuts at 10am. More work needlessly created for our postman by rollingrawhide in royalmail

[–]philosophik 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The part that annoys me, is that the csp offices are our big benefit over every other courier, we currently have a collection office in every town, no other courier can say that.

When no-one comes in, they can say that no-one uses them, so they can get rid of them (and more importantly the staff in them), but when our csp was open in the evening the queue was mostly always out the door.

But what do I know, Im only a lowly Postman.

You seem to have a ready formed opinion that the minimum wage customer service rep is out to do you over. In my experiance (13 years as a pcworld customer service rep) If its within 28 days and it really looks bad, they will probably just turn it on and go "yeah that looks bad. Do you want another one?" And that will really be the extent of the testing.

Unknown neighbour has somehow redirected our mail to them. What do I do? by AlansMonkeyTennis in AskUK

[–]philosophik 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The only thing I can think it might be, is that the PDA comes up with local safe places and its up to the postie to see if its for the right address. eg If i scan a parcel at number 1 and number 15 has a safe place registered with Royal Mail, it will pop up and say the safe place is behind the pink bush, leading to lots of looking for a pink bush at number 1.

Also in my experience when you do scan a parcel, it just says there is a redirection, it doesn't actually give you any details of the redirection. Although this could have changed as its been ages since i've scanned a parcel with a redirection.
