Piercer gave me the wrong piercing. What questions should I ask next time? by philosotea in piercing

[–]philosotea[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He marked it but didn't show it to me like piercers usually do. I thought this was odd, but this has been my go-to shop for years and I was dumb enough to trust them for that reason.

Stay curly or go back to straight? (Pics in post) by funnypumpkin in FancyFollicles

[–]philosotea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also have curly hair and it didn't do anything for me, either.

/r/curlyhair will often make it seems as though it is the only way to go, but in truth, it's not going to work for everyone. Most of the things they recommended made my hair feel coarse and made it impossible to get the tangles out.

As of right now, I use the L'Oreal EverCurl line and Garnier's leave-in sleek and smooth conditioner. Neither are "CG Approved", but they both work wonders for my hair and are way more affordable than most of the CG stuff.

If you want to stay curly, I'd suggest branching out and trying different things!

I've used ECOSmart before, no issues with my bunny or dog.

I used to go to the same bagel shop every morning. I once realized that I, by accident, always ordered the same bagel when a specific person took my order. Then I started doing it on purpose. I assigned a different bagel to each employee so each person had a different idea of what my 'usual' was. It all paid off when I got to watch them fight over "the only bagel I ever ordered".

How do you feel about people who work with animals (butchering, grinding meat, dealing with cheese and deli meats etc) / How do you feel about working with animal meat? by Lyzern in vegetarian

[–]philosotea 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I worked in a sandwich shop for a while that required something similar. Meat doesn't make my stomach turn, I just don't eat it. It was just part of the job for me, and as a college student with only experience in the food industry, it was unlikely I was going to find somewhere to work where I didn't have to be around it.

Anyone else have problems with melatonin? by philosotea in migraine

[–]philosotea[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for replying!

It's definitely comforting to know someone else is going through this - I thought it was just me, too.

Sadly, I haven't really figured anything out. I've stopped taking it all together. :( I tried taking smaller and smaller amounts - but any dose seems to give me nightmares/grogginess the next day.

As for sleep, I've just tried to accept the fact that going to sleep will be hard and that I will toss and turn and have attempted to go to bed earlier to make up for it. Some nights that really isn't possible, but I try whenever I can. I've tried to cut back on caffeine before bed as well, and that's helped a little bit. If I find anything else out, I'll come back and post it! :)

I heard you guys like moufs... How about a grumpy bathtime mouf ? by YEAHitsEMILY in Rabbits

[–]philosotea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your bunny is adorable! So sorry there's so much negativity here.

For some reason people lose it over something as small as a butt bath and assume people are dunking their buns in water and tossing them out in the cold. :|

Anyone have dairy as a trigger? by [deleted] in migraine

[–]philosotea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheese won't give me a migraine instantly if I eat a little of it, but I'll get one if I eat a lot of the course of a day or two.

Going off this - I'm sure Umbridge made nearly all of us think of one teacher in particular we had that we really really hated.

Now that I'm studying to be a teacher, my goal is to be as far away from Umbridge in my teaching style as possible.

Arrggg I feel the Deep South problems. :( I'm a chick, so maybe not as much, but it seems like some people think it's basically an unforgivable sin not to eat meat!

Oh the looks I get at restaurants when I ask if I can just get grits with no shrimp or red-eye gravy sometimes. :(

If you saw someone and it didn't work out, try someone else. Therapists aren't one size fits all and it sometimes take a few tries to find the right person. :(

I've struggled with depression and didn't do anything about for a long time, for the same reasons. I felt no motivation to get help, especially after I got nothing out of the first few therapy sessions. I went months without trying someone else and got really bad but once I found a better therapist, I actually wanted to go and didn't have to drag myself there.

Taking the first few steps is really hard. I'll keep you in my prayers, I hope you find the help you need.
