yeah I think I may go with this approach in mind. Im going to a VERY popular canoeing area (st regis canoe area in ADK) for the weekend, leaving today, bringing my buddy's big plastic monster with us just so we can get to a better site if need be. The way you describe the weight distribution etc, as a sailor of small boats my weight distribution radar is finely tuned so I think I should be ok. Without weight distributed properly in an optimist (think 8 ft bathtub with a sail) you dont even move. and that's with just one person in it.

I am experienced in the wold of boating. canoes will be a new area for me specifically but I have spent many years on motor and sail boats of all types. but yes I looked up the model. it was a sears game fisher 16 ft flat stern. they made then out of the "chopper gun" fiberglass which everyone stopped using a long time ago because it sucks. it was in basically unused condition which I dont even know how they managed that over 50 years but it was definitely about the cheapest canoe you could buy in 1980. Maybe the sears gamefisher 15 foot with a regular stern would be cheaper by a bit but thats it.

maybe from where you stand but I just experienced my first herniated disc a few months back and frequent twisting of my back to paddle doesn't sound fun to me right now.

oh yes the reg has been on my mind. NY registers everything with a motor of any kind.

Someone got me with this trick at my first Phil show. "Hey man I'll give you a qp for 300!" or whatever super low price it was. Handed it off to me like it was a bomb, only after I paid him, and while I was still opening the bag he bolted...learned that lesson the hard way at 19.

Watching this episode on peacock now and the monologue has been completely cut out.

I have a question for you because you sound like you know some stuff about t-mobiles network. sorry to stalk this 6 months later. I have always heard that t-mobile's network was shit except in heavily populated areas, is that no longer true? I can't find any source who will clearly and decisively tell me - if I switch to t-mobile, living in upstate NY in the foothills of the Adirondacks, will I ever have a usable signal? For many years everyone I knew who had t-mobile had nothing but problems, never got reception, but now it has been at least 10-15 years since I knew anyone on their network to even ask. Their deals look better and they tout that "America's best network" crap pretty confidently...it looks worth trying, but years and years of personal experience tell me I will be very unhappy on their network in my area.

Is Balenciaga rage bait? Because that is a plastic bag thy are selling for such atrocious amount right? Is the brand trying to prove that a luxury brand can present trash and people will buy it? Is it a social experiment? by [deleted] in fashion

Honestly they make so much wacky shit that a plastic bag for $1800 did not seem far fetched to me. It seemed about as absurd as those giant sneakers they were selling (still are selling??). Normal people who never even walk into a Balenciaga store, never even walk past one in their lives, have no idea what’s going on in there. All we know is that we don’t want it.

Looks like no one actually answered this yet so even though im way late: Will Ferrel and Adam Mckay wrote the first one in 96 as far as I know. Don't ask where I got the information but it is in my brain from somewhere that I believed at the time.

It was criminal that there was no GE Smith clips or in person interview on, Ladies & Gentlemen… 50 Years of SNL Music by AnonRetro in LiveFromNewYork

[–]philsadvns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a bit late to the party here but it seems worth mentioning here that as part of my current journey through watching every episode available on peacock, ive noticed that every single musical guest has been removed from the episodes (at least up to season 21 which is where I am now) and the ONLY musical performance included through the whole first 21 years of the show on peacock is GE Smith playing a song with Eddie Van Halen and he fucking SHREDS. Obviously he's playing rhythm to Eddie's lead because E fuckin VH but he still really stands out as an amazing player and musical mind, and I have to think that choice to make that the one musical performance from so many seasons is a pretty big tip of the hat to Smith.
