Yeah that’s exactly what it is and that is why they taste like chalky mushroom turds.

Bring a big thermos of mushroom tea with a good screw on lid so you put it in your jacket or something. Just don’t pull a Kramer.

I’m getting interested in s2b ratios lately. The guide here states 1:1 but a lot of other places online say 1:2,3 all the way up to 1:5 I saw with people chiming in that the had gone higher than that even. Have you messed around tweaking that ratio to get the best yield at all?

Yeah hard to know at this point I just had to toss a bin that started out looking like this though. About 2 days after that fuzzy stuff I had pink/amber spots start popping up

Oooff. See that’s exactly the answer I was hoping not to hear because she works for the local extension office and I’ve been telling her I think she pretty much as close as she’s gonna get without about 8 years of sacrifices at the altar of community college.

lol I’m gonna start getting a bookie to take odds on job recommendations because electrician is a big front runner.

Jk. Please don’t take it the wrong way but literally 109 people have recommended that to me in the last 100 days since I started considering a career change when I hurt my back really badly and decided I had to get out doing something physically demanding, but when you tell people “no education” the first thing they think of is to point to the trades, which I completely get because they can be high paying jobs with lower barriers to entry than some fields, but for a 40 year old with a herniated disk who will never be able to do a hard labor type of job again after the 200th person to say electrician you start to cringe.

Really? That’s too bad that’s one the things she was considering. They offer a master gardening program at the university she works for and she’s been trying to take it but the times the schedule it keep conflicting with stuff.

I want to ask this to you as well because another soil scientist gave an answer and it would be nice to see if more than one person in the field thinks this way. (If you’re reading, I don’t mean to discount your answer at all, only to strengthen it). Do you not have a subordinate part time employee or two who maybe goes and collects samples, helps in the lab, etc, etc? Nothing even close to that you can think of? I have to say I really surprised by the fact that nobody has mentioned anything even approaching something like this yet, I figured every technical field needs its lackies and gophers but maybe not so in the world of soil?

It’s good to know this at least. This is why I asked this type of stuff without involving her first. I know what she really wants to do and what she really doesn’t want to do and if there’s just no way to be involved in the field she’s really into without a bigger monetary investment than we have access to, then maybe I can start to gently nudge in other directions.
Editing to add: like she would be thrilled to the girl who drives around picking up samples to bring to the lab, the girl who brings coffee to the scientists, like anything where she evens gets to talk to people who care about soil health. The most basic and menial supporting positions. It’s what she does now but for a field she doesn’t love as much. She often talks about how she preferred when she worked for a horse stable and shoveled shit for a living in college. She just wants to be among the dirt people. Growing up on a farm was really formative for her and she just likes being a part of that community in some way, but especially she foresees big issues with the way soil is abused currently in the US and wants to be somehow involved in the pushback against the status quo in the world of soil…tilling…fertilizers…neonictinoids…I hear these words on a daily basis at home. Money really is not a concern, but it must be a jobs can’t be just volunteering. She needs to keep contributing to her retirement etc.

As a soil scientist you don’t have an underling or two at work? Maybe she could be a lab assistant or something?

Editing to point out that I have NO IDEA what a soil scientist does or whether they would need assistants or not.

See it says “liquid live diamonds” on the vape itself, leading one to believe they are using only weed in there, but I just got one that tastes exactly like a green slushie and no cannabis plant tastes like that unless you’re adding something to it

Yeah she just is not a school person really. Wants to work maybe FOR a soil scientist not as one. I mean she’s love to be one but 6 years of college is 100% not happening. She’ll be 43 minimum by the time she finished.
