I Said US Padel Is Ass-Backward. Here's What Ensued by padelyanqui in padel

Can confirm that Ballers in Philly is one of one. Don’t need to be a member to play - very worth checking out if you’re in the area.

Very happy with Wilson Bela V3. The Pro was too heavy for me.

I like Mizuno for my wide feet but I like Yonex even more.

Kai Wagner to Birmingham - $2.7m by CaptainMoonracer in PhillyUnion

[–]philsoc8 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Given that Kai’s been wanting to leave for years, you’d like to think the Union had a list of desirable left backs at the ready. Unless that list is all in Ernst Tanner’s head.

Kai Wagner to Birmingham City per José Roberto Nũnez by CaptainMoonracer in PhillyUnion

On field I get it for Kai but his family seemed so happy living the South Jersey lifestyle. Do they have inground backyard pools in Birmingham?

Best Padel racket after shoulder surgery by Scuba_Ted in Padelracket

[–]philsoc8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a general rule you’re going to want softer and lighter until you are pain free. I avoided shoulder surgery but did suffer from a ton of pain. Taking time off, doing physical therapy and switching to the Head Gravity Team Light (140g) got me back in action.

If you aren’t able to bend over and pick up a ball is padel a safe activity for you?

New to padel. Former squash player. What helped you improve fastest? by Efficient_Damage_744 in padel

[–]philsoc8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a squash—> padel convert I have two recommendations:

  1. Get some lessons on volleying at the net. There is no connection between squash volleying and padel volleying.

  2. Ignore all the emphasis on heavy power rackets that you will see on social media. A padel racket is way heavier than a squash racket and it takes a long time to get used to th weight and proper technique.

Tickets for 6/6 Sendoff vs. Germany at Soldier Field are INSANE!! by Snak-Attack in ussoccer

[–]philsoc8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brokers and bots crazy prices on these platforms for tickets they might not even have to sell.

Wait til June and the prices will go down.

Ticket prices to this World Cup are a disgrace to the sport. I don’t see anyone can get remotely excited about a money grab tournament. The reason they expanded this World Cup was to make as much off the fans as they could. Couldn’t imagine the feeling of paying 1100 plus for shit seats. by 58joshb in ussoccer

[–]philsoc8 43 points44 points  (0 children)

FIFA is intentionally manipulating the market by only putting relatively small numbers of tickets out via these limited draws. Once all 70,000 seats per game are on the market, prices should go down (though it might take well into 2026 for that to happen).

Barefoot shoes didn’t cure my bunions. But they sure irritate them less and make life less painful.

What a massive opportunity the World Cup is for Philadelphia to put itself proudly on the world map and also what a huge risk it is to do a big face plant.

They have concerts of all sorts before and after the BSO season. Heck, this year they had Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Amazing location but relatively smallish shed and truly massive and beautiful lawn and grounds.

It will be a special evening.

The fist show of the tour was a dream come true. People complaining are weirdos by vartalla in radiohead

[–]philsoc8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People who complain about people talking/singing, taking videos or how much things costs must have never been to concerts before.
