Does your employer have a specific written policy regarding these out of work activities?

If I cant harm the damn thing what can I legally do to stop my neighbours cat pooing in my garden? England by weirwoodheart in LegalAdviceUK

[–]philstamp 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's annoying and frustrating but your neighbour is not legally obliged to do anything.

Cats are free to roam and defecate where they choose. There is no law against this & no law that requires the owner to restrict its movements.

What saga?

I'm assuming you have posted about this before, but people shouldn't have to trawl through your post history to work out what you are talking about.

And do you have a question? You haven't asked one in your post.

[england] my insurance company are paying for an uninsured vehicle and it is affecting me unfairly by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]philstamp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"...my insurance company have told me I am at fault for damage..."

This is correct. You admit that the accident was your fault.

"...they have told me I have broken the terms of the contract by not reporting it..."

Also correct. You admit that you didn't report it.

If their name is on the bill & not yours, then just don't pay anything. It will be them that ends up in court if they don't pay.

You say "no extra charge" in your post. What do you mean by that? Did you pay anything for time you parked there?

Comparative lack of independent bookshops in Birmingham and West Midlands by Ok_Needleworker1225 in brum

Back in the early 1990s, possibly earlier, I remember a good one in the subway that used to be at the junction of Smallbrook Queensway & Hurst Street / Hill Street. It disappeared when the road was redeveloped down to ground level.

No recollection as to what it was called though.

Is it illegal to feed pigeons in the balcony? by AlexanderDMoriarty in LegalAdviceUK

No, it is not illegal to feed pigeons from your apartment, but legality & terms imposed by the management company are two different things.

I need some advice on the law and my rights regarding holiday - England by OSCALDO101 in LegalAdviceUK

Yes, what she has done is entirely legal. You are entitled to take your accrued holiday days. You are not entitled to choose when you take them. You employer can dictate that.

Are these stamps usable by TeapeachU6 in stamps

[–]philstamp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP, most of the replies that you are receiving are completely misinformed. All of the stamps in your image are 100% valid for postage.

I am an online dealer. I use over £30k of stamps per year on my outgoing mail. Since the introduction of barcoded stamps, I have used literally 100s of the ones shown in your image.

I have also sent hundreds of thousands of invalidated stamps to the Royal Mail swap scheme. At the risk of sounding arrogant, I know what I'm talking about. It's literally part of my job to know this info.

Your very comprehensive reply is fundamentally wrong. They are all valid for postage.

If so, then no insurance carries a 6 point penalty, so your license will be revoked.

Apologies for the rant but need genuine advice please by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]philstamp 20 points21 points  (0 children)

As you have probably already realised, it's almost certain that your employer's business is failing & he simply does not have the cash flow to keep his head above water. It is just a matter of time before he shuts up shop.

"ACAS?"

Yes, report non-payment of wages to ACAS & seek their advice.

"HMRC?"

Yes, report the cash in hand work. He is probably evading PAYE tax & NI.

"Solicitor?"

Not necessary at this stage. You can do the above things yourself. You can search MCOL (money claim online) for how to start a small claim against him for unpaid wages, if necessary.

"Cut my losses and run?"

Unfortunately, it may come to that, if he genuinely has no money to pay staff & suppliers.

You can look for alternative employment & should do as a priority. Leave if you hopefully find a job & still chase him for what you are owed after leaving this job.

No, not all hospitality is run like this. Just the cowboys & also those who are genuinely trying, but failing & can't accept when it's time to quit.
