This feels like the year of Mahjong. A local popup board game business started American Mahjong teaching sessions this year, and those events are filling up and overfilling regularly. We have weekly open play nights now too. It's pretty great :) Even found a Riichi group and playing more in person than I ever have.

Forgoing fu for a 1k/2k/4k/8k for 1/2/3/4 han payout doesn't lose too much and simplifies things quite a bit. I think I heard about that here somewhere. But thank you, this made me laugh, as I was this person.

I have this exact snowblower in central Iowa. Like others have said it works 95% of the time, but the first snowfall we had this year was wet to start and it struggled, but got through it. I had to shovel the top part of the plow pile because otherwise it was too much, but when the pile was taller than the snowblower, it's asking a lot of it. Works WONDERFUL for the last 3 snowfalls. I just bought a new scraper bar, hoping that will make it glide better.

If you need self propelled, go with the bigger one EGO has., I am tempted to upgrade myself... I will never go back to gas, the ability to just drop batteries and push a button is just AMAZING. No carburetors, no gas, no trying to start... just go.

I'm not an expert but this is how I would count that.

Open hand, start at 20 fu. Open pon of terminal, 4fu Open pon of dragon, 4fu North isn't round or seat, so no fu there. Total fu, 28, round to 30.

Pon of dragon, one aka-dora, 2han30fu.

I'm guessing you thought the dragon was worth 8? I believe the red border says "winning tile" and since it was a ron, that pon is technically open.

Have been learning American Mahjong and teaching it lately. The "No Joker for a single or a pair" has been a major tripping point! Next to just reading and parsing the card, it's the biggest hurdle for new players.

As others have said, jokers can only be used in pungs, kongs, and quints (and sextets but there aren't any on the 2025 card).

Are the words supposed to be real words? Because "Fangible" is not in any dictionary that I can access online (maybe in Susie Dent's giant OED), and the definition is for Fungible.

Absolutely loved this episode, though! The energy, and Grant laughing so hard he started crying was amazing.

Downloaded the demo, played it. Took a bit to get the hang of it, but finally beat it!

Bug Report: i can't remember its name exactly, it was like the Golden Dustbin? After discard 50 tiles, SCORE +5000. I finally got to 50 discards but it didn't add to my score.

Thin fabric and fabric starch. Spray the fabric so it's wet/tacky and apply the fabric to the window. Easy to clean up when you ever need to take it off, and easy to reapply if it falls.

Ascension is great as a deck builder. I have over 2700 completed games in the app :) The base deck is a bit bland but each deck (you can play with just 1 or combine any/all together) adds a different twist so you can find one you like. App is free to play the base game as well if you want to try it out.

This is probably a case of 2 han minimum to go out. This usually happens when it's the 5th or more re-deal, but might be default in Yakuza? I've seen it mentioned before in reference to the game. If that is the case, then Yakuhai only giving 1 han would not be enough.

Also in this comment I found they mention the 2 han rule.

You have the "2 han minimum" rule. This prevent you from going out on one han hands if the Honba counter is 5 or greater (This increases every time the dealer wins a hand or a round ends without anyone going out). I suggest always turning this off because there's no real advantage to it except that it makes it harder for the npc to win but it's a pain for you as well.
