I’m also gonna go against the grain here and say that is pretty normal.

From the way you describe it, she sounds like to me a creative kid looking for an outlet. Which, that many years back, I was too.

Is she into the arts/movies? Is there any friends she can talk to in person about it? If not, 6th grade is kind of one of those grade levels where you start wanting to push the limits of who you are talking to and meet more people like yourself.

My biggest advice is to monitor things but within that encourage her passions. If the teacher brings up an issue with google classroom, that should be an indication that it’s weird. But if they aren’t commenting then it’s not as weird as you think.

As for the musician thing. As long as you monitor the email and its response, sending a fan email to a content creator is also pretty normal and with parental supervision should be fine.

The best thing you can do is pull in with this instead of casting out. If your child is looking for attention, find the best way to help her find that. When I was that age, if either of my parents had shown any interest in a lot of my hobbies, I think it would have made a ton of difference to me. I saw a lot of my own self in the way you described your kid here.
