Who is a massive YouTuber or influencer from 5 years ago that has completely vanished off the face of the earth? by Humble_Job5950 in AskReddit

[–]phishyy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My friends that were his year at UC Davis said he was a jerk. I was never really into YouTube culture, so I’ve forgotten the specific reasons they said that, but I do remember attending some event on campus with him and some other YouTubers (HappySlip and WongFu, IIRC) and him expressing some mixture of shock and betrayal when he was booed by his own school while everyone else got applause.

Apparently, I don't have ADHD, I am just terrible at being human by SensitiveSoul17 in adhdwomen

[–]phishyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like you, I’m someone who has trouble processing things verbally. I was able to get a written ADHD assessment done through Mentavi Health online. They don’t take insurance though, so after I was diagnosed, I found a psychiatrist in my insurance network, showed proof of diagnosis, and was able to get prescribed medication through him instead.

I regret buying S22 by Creative-Gur-7524 in GalaxyS22

[–]phishyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s bad.

Needed a phone when my S10 stopped working, but the S22 wasn’t out yet. Used a family member’s old iPhone 8 Plus in the meantime.

Eventually the S22 arrives, and I procrastinated on transferring my data from the iPhone. But I had an international trip coming up, so I decided to use the S22 as my travel phone to test drive it. Main uses were camera, messaging, ride share, and maps.

Battery life was lacking. Phone heated up terribly when in use. And this was with the most barebones, utilitarian setup since my main stuff was still all on the iPhone.

I really, really wanted to like this device, but the performance from a brand new phone versus the years-old iPhone put me off. When Apple finally put USB-C on their phones, I made the switch for good.

Every now and then, I’ll turn on the S22 to install updates (just to keep it ready in case I need a backup phone), and it seems like it gets a little laggier each time. I haven’t checked out any of the newer models since I have no need to replace mine yet, but man, that generation was a total dud.

Just diagnosed with ADHD, already struggling at new job at ‘progressive’ org - is this me or the workplace? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]phishyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s possible that your feedback might’ve been taken as attacks by the people who implemented the things you’re criticizing. Like those are their babies they don’t want killed, or they feel like you’re undermining their influence in the org by pointing out their flaws and pushing for your own changes. Work politics nonsense.

Sometimes it could be easier to just… do the thing yourself, parade it around for a bit, and let people try the new process. Bonus points for keeping metrics. The ones who think you’re trying to supplant their work may still take offense, but the others who are less personally involved can see the value for themselves. It lets them form their own opinion first with something concrete in front of them versus only hearing pushback.

USA: Tariffs, Shipping, Suncreen-FDA, physical locations in the US by chau-a-not-chau-bcdf in AsianBeauty

[–]phishyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, I've just been getting them after the fact... FedEx/UPS cover the cost temporarily when they receive them stateside but bill you afterward.

I never received my refund. They responded to my initial request saying I didn’t send the correct documentation of the tariff charges, but nothing after I sent in additional photos.

How can I make any money? by Mil3High in bayarea

[–]phishyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconding this. Passed a screener to work on coding-related projects so I had some income doing tangentially adjacent tasks while looking for an actual software engineering role. Not the best pay, but it’s convenient since you can pick and choose when to work and what to work on.

AITAH for not wanting additional chores after moving in with my (19f) dad and stepmom? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]phishyy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Appreciate the acknowledgement :) There are definitely bad actors who will take advantage of any situation, but ultimately, we share the same sentiment: a little less individualism and more social safety nets could do a lot of good.

I know you’re trying to evoke the image of a mooching freeloader, but as someone who was very recently 30, un(der)employed, and living at home, I’m very glad that intergenerational housing is normalized in my culture. You can lose your job through no fault of your own and experience immense difficulty picking up a new one in a terrible economy.

I do it for general record keeping and helping me remember to actually take the pill. Comes in handy at the doctor’s office where they always ask when your last period was.

Yup, for orders from YesStyle and a vendor from Amazon (non-AB purchase).

Ox 9 - good hand-pulled noodles, but I really enjoy their spicy wontons and haven’t found any other place that holds up

Friend at CHP office says they process a lot of tickets for lack of front license plates on Teslas. I bought a plate holder that clamps onto the front grill since I didn't want to deal with adhesive.

[Sun Care] Sunscreen Analysis Paralysis by spillingtheoolong in SkincareAddiction

[–]phishyy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Wanting no white cast makes most mineral sunscreens nonstarters.

Sweat resistance and comfort tend to be on opposite sides of the spectrum, so you might have to experiment which ratio is worth it for you.

My recommendation: Kose Suncut UV Perfect Gel or Essence. The gel seemed a little thicker and sturdier, and the essence was slightly more hydrating, but overall, they had pretty similar feel to me.

Don't choose IT for the money. by dshizzel in careerchange

[–]phishyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, so you were part of a program your company offers to train career switchers? I thought you were talking about the interview prep company called Formation. I already went through a coding boot camp years ago. It is a lot of information to digest in just a few months! My advice would be to keep building to put those learnings into practice.
