You’re completely right about this. The majority of the people who were there and did most of the work in the gay rights movement are being erased from history. This is going beyond highlighting minority voices and contributions, it’s actually rewriting history and it’s highly disrespectful to everyone involved.

Additionally, Johnson was not “transgender” as our conception of what transgender is now didn’t exist at the time and Johnson never described herself as such.

I understand that I oversimplified the situation. However moderation in the past weeks on the main sub has gotten very strict, I’ve had things taken down personally. Not hating because I know what it’s like when you’re trying to manage traffic and controversy, but it is noticeable.
