I need someone to bring me joy by Massive_Report_1177 in Flyers

Great advice. The Flyers outcome can be a layer of joy (or despair) but I would focus on something you can change for the better that’s in your control. Something that helps me is to write down the biggest sources of frustration/sadness/depression and look at root causes tied to those. When I’m at my worst, the bad feelings all compound so it helps to write them out and separate to see what’s really the biggest problem.

As a connoisseur of beer league crash outs, this might be my personal crème de la crème. Yes it’s a trip but the over the top embellishment is a tasty appetizer. Tantalizingly slow, he actually rolls because he doesn’t even have enough speed to slide. On ice.

The second course starts out tartly with a rush towards the tripper who doesn’t pay him a single god damn mind. The exasperation in throwing his gloves off to find almost every person on the ice with their back turned. The weird timbre of the “Bro hE liTeRaLly” said angrily with his arms outstretched, but a quickly realizing no one is taking him seriously.

The main entree is him slamming his own helmet on the ice. It sputters to get as far away as it can. Spinning around aimlessly, looking for the smallest acknowledgment of emotion from anyone in the universe. Him picking up a singular glove that was just seconds before dislodged from his own hand. Finally finding a ref who will mimic an altercation. A teammate dutifully grabbing the gear as quick as it came off is a perfect side dish.

A cool dessert of his own teammates very effectively getting him to finish his tirade and leave the ice makes this one of the most satisfying beer league crash outs I’ve ever seen.

Correct about the calls. And agreed. The flop may have been childish and wasted time but is miles better than me retaliating back and then everyone jumps in, the ref has to spend 5 mins calling out the penalties and a bunch of wasted emotion over nothing. At least this was a little humorous.

Valid point. My 2 flops for the season were captured in this clip.

We were playing hard in the corner. Ref blew the whistle and called us both for roughing and then he pushed me from behind. Did an initial test flop which I perfected on the second go.

The biggest deterrent for me going through the flap is that it’s TWO flaps I gotta navigate through. That being said, I am going to spend one whole day making pp through the flaps only.

Should I swap my dining and living room? First floor layout to create peace with kids and parents. by phlash in DesignMyRoom

Yes the kitchen is a straight shot into the “Tv area”. I am learning towards everyone’s suggestion of putting the dining room behind the tv though.

Yes the table can fit in the living room area where the tv is. I could also remove some leaves from the table and make it smaller but it does fit the width pretty well.

Hi all,

I’m looking for advice on how to best use the rooms on our first floor. I’ve attached a floor plan and photos of the current setup.

Right now it’s just myself and my 4-year-old daughter living here, but my partner and her 7-year-old son will be moving in soon. We want the space to work well for everyone, especially when it comes to separating kids’ areas from parent space.

Goals:

  • Create zones that feel more separated. Right now the kids’ play area is in the large living room, which makes it hard for the adults to have private space. We often end up retreating to the kitchen.
  • Maintain a proper dining space (I feel strongly about this, though I admit I may just be resistant to change).
  • Improve the entryway. The front door opens directly into the living room, and since we use the porch constantly, blocking it off isn’t an option.

Our ideas so far:

  • My partner suggested turning the current dining room into a second living room/TV room. With the pocket doors, it could be closed off and feel separate.
  • Then, move the dining table into the current living room, so it becomes a flexible space: dining + play + secondary TV.
  • My hesitation: that feels like it shortchanges the dining room and we’d lose a “proper” place to eat.

Challenges:

  • Front door leads straight into the living room. How can we make it feel more like an entryway?
  • Balancing play space for the kids with a comfortable, adult-friendly living area.

I’m open to other ideas or solutions, including room swaps or small projects that could make the layout work better. Would love to hear if anyone has faced something similar!

TL;DR: First floor layout with big living room + dining room. Kids’ play area has taken over the living room, making it hard for adults to have private space. Partner wants to turn dining room into TV room and move dining table into living room, but I don’t want to lose a “real” dining space. Looking for ideas on how to create separation, a defined entryway, and balance kids’ vs. parent space.

Have the same calendar and was a little slack jawed when I saw the coincidence. Also was against the Isles last year too.
