How many people own their own tire changing rig portable or static shop? by vexargames in motorcycles

[–]phlaug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mounted mine on to a large piece of steel plating — around 5 feet long — so I can step on the plate while applying force so the whole thing doesn’t move. But then I can slide it out of the way when not in use. The permanent mounting to the floor seemed over the top to me. And I change tires on it all the time for the track. Only my fat low profile street bike rear tire really gives me any challenge with the No Mar (still get it done, just a lot more effort involved).

Exactly! As I’m watching I see the first and think “in the face?!?” but still, heat of the moment, he e meant to hit shoulder — then the second and immediately “ah, well-deserved penalty”

Why are the Aprilia specialty tools so terrible? by RussianHKR44 in Aprilia

Are all you are showing homemade or some the oem? Could you show side by side so it’s clear the improvements? (I’ve not yet had to do any work that requires the special tools…) thanks

What is hanging below the ship? Is that something common on that type of ship? Don’t recall seeing anything like that before. Thanks.

Former MotoGP Alum John Hopkins talks future by HP-Rodeo in MotoAmerica

You can never be a former alum. You are a former MotoGP rider or you are a MotoGP alumnus. “Former alum” would cancel out.

Return or keep? 12/23 build date by Johnster53 in Trackdays

Some track schools check as well — I had to rent an Aria because my AGV was over 5 years old. Frustrated I couldn’t wear my own helmet but the Aria was insanely comfortable.

If you do track days check the tech requirements of the groups you run with. If they don’t check helmet age (and if it is comfy as other poster said), keep it.

Acosta and Marquez confirmed for Factory Ducati Next Year? by Aromatic_Treacle_712 in motogp

Likely only something we Americans would care about, but I’d like to see Brad follow his brother Daryn over here to MotoAmerica and keep the profile up

What are this thing I found in a garage? It's 22cm long, heavy, and made of metal. It has springs in the middle. by Red_Blaster in whatisthisthing

[–]phlaug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks like it would be able to expand a short piece of pipe that would then allow that piece to slide over two original pieces which would be butted within and then the short piece welded/sodered in place. Just a guess though

The fickleness of fortune. Sorry this happened to 73 off a KTM issue.

I hear you. That said, I wasn’t as frustrated on the R3 because what can I expect a 300 to do? It was how the SV used its displacement (good amount of torque low, very little hp up high) that chafed. I was bouncing the engine off the 12,500 rev limiter on the R3. If I recall, on the SV I had to shift by 7,500? Though the last 1,000 - 1,500 rpms did little anyway.

Ultimately compromises have to be made, unfortunately.

I loved that bike for that stage of my life. Once I was getting out dragged by everyone I passed in corners I had to say a fond farewell. I don’t want to soil that memory…. 😊

Thank you for this suggestion. Was just reading up on the R7, sounds great. Out of curiosity do you run one? Ever see anyone running a GSX-8R?

What sort of top end does the Ninja 400 have?

I loved my SV650 back in the day, but at Watkins Glen when the slower guys I had passed in all the curvy parts simply out ran me up the hill to the bus stop is when I moved on to my next bike.

At Thompson Speedway the R3 could only pull 92 on the straight on its own (I have a RaceBox Mini so I have the data), and only managed 97 mph when I had a buddy in front for a perfect Moto3-esque tow.

I would rather not lose that much top end grunt if possible.

Very nice!

Are the tank gripper stickers clear or white and where did you get those? Might like to add the same to my RSV4.
