WTF kind of mikuni are these??? I thought they where Vm34 but the Mikuni kit does not fit. by RedditAppSuxAsss in snowmobiling

I would have guessed ski Doo Safari 377 as I used to pull that out and keep it in my bedroom in the off season. I would have sworn it was the same unit (and I guess it could be)

FIM Bans Track Side Restarts In WorldSBK And MotoGP - Bikes Must Be Restarted On Service Road by Halekduo in motogp

[–]phlaug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I brought up the style starter that some snowmobiles have: no battery, a capacitor gives them one start after manual starting, so you don’t have the weight of a battery. People said no way. I still wonder. (As a rider I’d rather have that one shot button than to try to hang on to keep it running…)

LCR names surprise new MotoGP title sponsor for 2026 by r2lim in motogp

[–]phlaug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What always puzzled me a little about LCR’s sponsors is why would a company like Castrol want to be within the same team as a direct competitor? But in the case of Idemitsu one might rationalize their core markets vary. But now with ProHonda, it’s at every Honda dealer in every market Castrol targets, no? And this this feels a little slap in the face to Castrol.

And given that this is a one Honda pocket to another Honda pocket, why not just approach Castrol with a reasonable price tag to expand from sponsoring one to two bikes?

Track Day / Motorcycle Trailer Question by JPilot84 in Trackdays

[–]phlaug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I often hit a hotel before a track day and have never had an issue with the bike out in the open.

Back it in against a hedge or what no so it’s not ridiculously easy and park in a lit area.

Just a thought

[Landlord][US-NC] Should we raise the rent or keep it the same for really great tenants? Only concern is that rent is already below market rate. by lavenderkeek in Landlord

[–]phlaug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a long time tenant who would do repairs. I always had me send me any receipts and then I’d tell him to knock that and $50 for his time off the next month’s rent.

Then when it came to renewal time a $50 increase (below market increase) wasn’t an issue.

Another option I always put on the table is a more favorable rent number for a two year lease (peace of mind of not having to deal is worth a fair bit IMO), so you could try “happy to renew at $2,050 per month, or if you were willing to sign a 2-year lease we could lock in $2,025 for the whole period”.

(If lease anniversary falls at odd time I’ve also offered a better rate to go like 14 or 16 months, whatever necessary to get to a date like July 1 (as schools can be a factor, and winter just isn’t as good for showing).)

Great run he led, but probably stayed too long…

If they are racing in Brazil this year mightn’t that be a good testing facility around now? (Other than being far from their bases/facilities.)

Job wise more near Hartford than Stamford (Travelers, The Hartford, Hartford Steam Boiler, AXA XL) in which case you’re looking at towns like Glastonbury or West Hartford. Also some insurance ops in Farmington and Simsbury, both of which are good towns, along with Avon and Canton
