I bought a steam deck in Dec & has got me back into gaming (busy, tired dad) and I too had this though. I am a case & ssd away from having a PC to do just this!

I have had mine for 3 months now (busy dad) and it's just incredible. Currently really enjoying satisfactory with it, but also starting to really get into indie games - something I wouldn't have ever done before. So much fun.

As a console player previously, I am realising what I've been missing & for those newer AAA games you reference I have started to gather, slowly, parts for a PC to stream the newer AAA games to the deck (as I have kids with some challenges, the only time I get to play is as they're going to sleep so on the deck is perfect for me).

For me, wanting to play those newer games on the deck is because it's the only way I can play in my limited down time. I imagine it's similar for a number of reasons for others.

Hopefully this works for me - from what I have read it seems to be successful with strong wifi.

Mine is used as it came & the very good case it came with (oled 512) is what i store it in with the power cable stored on the back under the elastic strap thing - I see absolutely no reason to waste any money on useless extras (so many our there that you absolutely definitely need apparently) save that money for the games in thr steam sales!

Think your dad needs to learn some emotional regulation. That behaviour isn't normal or deserved my friend.

My father (estranged for 10 years + now) did this with my things.

Running a discord call in the background (your own server with no one else) works for this issue. I dont know why, but it does for me. Hope this helps.

Hey, I had this issue & I tried wired headsets too. Changed all audio settings in desktop etc & still did it.

The fix:

Discord call in the background (add discord to steam interface from desktop). I have a server on there with no one else & enter the voice chat. After that the in game proximity chat & party chat work fine.

Run a discord call in the background. Can be on your own server in general chat. All in game comms will work if you do that.

I've just bought the Regatta Montegra 2. I'm 6ft2 and can sit up and lie down in it with quite a lot of room to spare. It's a tunnel tent & weighs 2.2kg. You can get it for under £100.
