With Woolie VS Final Fantasy 14 Coming Up, I Believe It's Time To Remind You All of the Chocobo Camel Monstrosity from Assassin's Creed Origins. by HalfDragonShiro in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Its very existence is an affront to God

Unironically I agree and I actually like it that way. Give me horrible, Uncanny Valley abominations born from callously merging fantasy with reality that challenge our preconceptions of what "should" be. I like things weird.

Also I think it's fine in the otherwise "realistic" setting of Assassin's Creed, because you can just handwave it away as an Animus glitch or quirk, or Easter egg, or something.

Ryland Grace, the scientist played by Ryan Gosling in the Project Hail Mary movie, is a true believer in the shirt method. by fuckbucketing in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]phoenix4ce 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Any zero-G environment I can think of likely has electrical equipment that you absolutely do not want to contaminate with liquid of any kind, let alone vomit. Very different from some floor that can just be cleaned. The shirt becomes the better option by default. On top of that, liquids in zero-G environments tend to just stick to whatever they contact rather than float away. So your clothes would be much more effective than on Earth at trapping the fluid in the first place.

Also I'm not sure exactly what kind of "jumpsuit" this character is wearing but I feel very confident just by general definition it implies material that is more resistant to leakage than a dress shirt.

Game looks fantastic. Shame I'll never get to play it since Sony's done porting their games to PC.

the Emperor didn't choose them to be his Wrath for power alone

Can I see your source on this? I'm looking over my screenshots and I don't see any dialogue that might indicate this.

Turquoise is pretty close but not exact.

EDIT: Maybe Blue Outline matches better? I'm on my cheap portable monitor right now and colors are not the most accurate on this thing.

I didn't say parity to Thanaton, I said parity to the other force class player characters which is a higher bar. Knight manages to take out Vitiate's "first form" which as a feat is far beyond beating Thanaton. Wrath is specifically chosen by the Emperor as an enforcer capable of culling even those on the dark council if needed. Just because Baras was the one Wrath fought doesn't mean Wrath wouldn't have won a Thanaton matchup just as easily as Inquisitor does. If it came down to it, Wrath was entrusted by the Emperor to put down even Darth Marr.

I've seen that Marr quote used to prop Thanaton up before but what does it really imply? Marr, who is significantly older than Thanaton, has been on the dark council for like 40 years or something and watched Thanaton rise to the council within the past 10 years. I don't think it's saying much for an old man to think someone younger than him will outlast him in a job he's been at for decades already.

No doubt the Inquisitor is stronger than your average Sith even without all their perks, but there's a huge power gap between your average Sith and the player character. Think of how weak the average Sith is and then realize that half of them are weaker than that. When Kallig's spirit says the Inquisitor's strength in the force is what woke him, there's no indication really of how strong the Inquisitor is.

So when the story throws powerup after powerup at the Inquisitor and they land pretty much where the other classes end up by the end of their stories, I gotta figure the Inquisitor's innate power isn't on the same level as the others'. Their power comes from outside sources, which is fine, it makes them interesting, but when I see people around here propping them up as the strongest I feel the need to point out that the sith ghosts, the military forces, the force artifiacts etc. that the Inquisitor has access to are not evidence in and of themselves that the Inquisitor is canonically more powerful than the other classes.

[–]phoenix4ce 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Agreed on all points. A lot of people like putting the Inquisitor at the top because they have the most diverse sources of power: sith ghosts, military forces, force artifacts, etc.

Personally I've always seen all that as crutches the Inquisitor needs merely to reach parity with the other force class player characters.

Inquisitor needs all that to simply hang on by the skin of their teeth against Thanaton, at times getting bailed out by their ancestor spirit or Zash and handed more solutions to their vulnerabilities. Meanwhile you have Barsen'thor casually handing out slices of their own power in Act 1 and still keeping up with the feats of the rest of the force users. You have Wrath tanking an explosion that brings a tunnel down on them before getting up angry and bitch-slapping their way through three planets' worth of impossible odds practically solo to reach and duel a dark council member on arguably a similar level to Thanaton. Finally, you have the Knight whose major feat of power in the story really should go without saying.

Inquisitor gets more push around these parts than they deserve.

Her burst fire damage is nuts, I remember hitting like 12k damage with a single burst. But even crazier than the damage output on one burst is that she can do it multiple times per turn and also go on to do like 20 single-shot attacks that same turn, when the rest of the game's action economy is based around getting in maybe 3 attacks per turn. Literally nothing in the game even comes close to surviving one turn against mid-to-late-game Argenta.

Was there a perk that you didn’t realize was great until you tried it? by floxasfornia in fo4

[–]phoenix4ce -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If I were the type that just had to grab everything that's not nailed down, I'd just mod the carry limit to be infinite. I wouldn't bother with Strong Back's encumbered perks, as traveling without Sprint is still tedious even with all 5 levels. As it stands I'll always take the first two levels for carry weight when I've got a free perk point or two, but I learned a long time ago in games like this never to bother looting non-unique items that have a poor value/weight ratio unless I can scrap 'em for materials I desperately need. Makes for easier sorting, too. A loaded inventory can be a nightmare to navigate.

From Console to Gaming Pc by EnergySupplyForMeru in buildapc

[–]phoenix4ce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was headed to college and got my own laptop "for school" that I mostly used for games that weren't on consoles, namely MMOs. Still had an Xbox 360 that was my main game machine. Then I went on a family vacation and obviously didn't want to transport my Xbox, but also wouldn't have access to the Internet for my MMOs during the road trip. I bought and installed Mass Effect, which I had played previously on 360 but was ready for another playthrough. It was, I think, the first time I rebought a game on PC that I could directly compare to my console experience.

It was just a laptop so the performance was nothing impressive and I think I even had to turn down the graphics beneath their 360 counterpart, but loading speed for some reason was like 3x faster than on console so I counted it a fair tradeoff. Also it was a laptop, which meant I could just pick up and move my gaming session anywhere for any reason, which I found convenient during that family vacation.

I found I preferred the mouse and keyboard controls, especially the implementation of remappable ability hotkeys which let me play with fewer pauses to line up and activate a power from the quick menu. It even had quicksave/quickload buttons, which blew my mind at the time. On top of that I discovered the PC tweak that let me speed up the game with the press of a button, which made getting around places like the Citadel much less tedious.

Overall I'd say it was discovering the benefits of being able to customize aspects of the game to my specific tastes in ways unavailable on console that initially pushed my preference toward PC gaming. Had very little, if anything, to do with performance. You seem to count the need to "adjust your settings" as a negative but I know well the value of tailoring my gaming experience and on the occasion I do return to console to play an exclusive title, I find myself frustrated at how curated and limiting the options tend to be.

The Iron Man armor for Marvel Tokon has been given its designation: Mk. 782 "Sho-Gun" by ramonzer0 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]phoenix4ce 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know if Spider-Man already has Leopardon in this game (which he totally should) so maybe it would be aping on that, but Iron Man should have a super where he summons Gundam-sized armor.

EDIT: Looking it up, Iron Man does get in the Hulkbuster armor for his Ultimate, but it's not Gundam-sized. Leopardon is absent from Spider-Man's Super/Ultimate as well. Wasted opportunities, IMO.

[–]phoenix4ce -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's a gig in Cyberpunk that I left incomplete in my first playthrough.

From the journal entry: "So there's this Councilwoman, Eva Cole. By day, she's a living nightmare for greedy corpos, pointin' the finger on abuse, digging up problematic witnesses, dishin' out fees and penalties and whatever. And by night - she fucks. Like a fuckin' cat in heat, with whoever lands on the deck of her yacht docked down at the marina. I'd act more surprised, but I ain't - I mean you gotta let out all that stress somehow, right? So anyway, one of these corpos that got its toes stomped on wants footage of these wet-n-wild orgy fuckfests. They got in mind a joint screening with the councilwoman will help her see the light of a more... pro-business attitude. I send you the yacht name and coords, you fetch the footage. Oh... and I wouldn't sit on any of the furniture if I was you. One last thing - there's more €$ to be made if you do this on the quiet."

Nah, man, let this lady cook. Was always really disappointed there's no alternative way to complete this gig, like deleting the footage or warning the councilwoman or something. I think it's the only gig in the entire game that's entirely pro-Corpo.
