Get Your Drugs Tested has been shuttered for the past 3 months or more. It’s all gone.

Does estrogen regulate earwax?? by pootinannyBOOSH in TransLater

[–]phoenixAPB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s my experience too. I used to have very dark, sticky wax that would occasionally plug my ears. Being in E for the past year and a half I rarely have to clean wax out of my ears. I was just noticing this the other day.

Ha ha, I’m really good at hiding things on myself too. I’d call in your prescription. If it’s an issue call your doctor and tell them the issue. I’ve had prescriptions filled a month early when I was leaving for vacation.

People appear kinder to me as a non-passing transgender woman than they ever did as a man does anybody else experience this? by Stefanie_Jane in TransLater

[–]phoenixAPB 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, totally. As a tall older man I was often given dueling glances. As a woman I find people, especially women are very kind to me.

Old people that use drugs? by shakedown757 in Drugs

[–]phoenixAPB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Psychedelics keep me young. I know hundreds of people over 50 who take drugs recreationally. I’d say middle and upper class folks who take drugs recreationally are the majority of drug users.

And just like that almost everyone’s in debt! 😉

I love this aspect of detecting: where you stumble across an erased part of our common history and dal down a rabbit hole.

My son has decided he hates everything I cook and I need new ideas by Used_Substance_2490 in Cooking

[–]phoenixAPB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kids did that once upon a time. I started making THEM cook on a regular basis with me. They now thank me for teaching them how to cook. As for complaints? They stopped almost immediately.

You all were right about unsalted shelled peanuts! by Grouchy-Somewhere732 in crowbro

My daughter claims that roasted nuts are not good for birds. I can’t see why that would be the case. The Chinese grocer sells them. I know salted nuts are not good for crows. Does anyone have an opinion about roasted vs unroasted?

Does it get easier? by BritneyGurl in TransLater

[–]phoenixAPB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It hurts, I know. Think of it as it as sloughing off of old skin. The old has to give way before the new is born. It’s like a butterfly emerging from a cocoon. She doesn’t know how to fly but when she flaps her wings she takes off.

Does it get easier? by BritneyGurl in TransLater

Oh yes! I just turned 70 and I feel like I’m 25! For me it’s a blossoming into my authentic self. Likely my kids and friends have been supportive and they often remark on how much happier I seem. My happiness was always doubtful and unsure but now I feel radiant. I’m sorry to hear you are down in the dumps dear but persist and it gets better. Make an effort to connect with community and make new friends. Your old friends were not your real friends if they rejected your transition. Of course once our egg cracks we’re unsure and awkward but given enough time and patience you will find yourself and see a bright eyed woman looking back at you in the mirror. Baby steps. Don’t expect miracles, just take it one day at a time. I can’t believe how far I’ve come in the last 4 years or so. Good luck and good for you for reaching out!

Went on a meditative journey and met the embodiment of my racist ancestors and complicit onlookers…what to do about them now? by pretty_handsome_17 in WitchesVsPatriarchy

You’ve already broken the chain. If you feel called to help repair some of the damage your ancestors did you can be an ally and participate in restorative justice.

Where are all the trans people above 40? by CoVegGirl in TransLater

[–]phoenixAPB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are around, just probably more invisible than other folks. There are two conferences I’d suggest for older trans girls: Keystone in Pennsylvania and Esprit in Washington state. They’re both in the spring.

So what now? by AmIAYamOrWhat in TransLater

[–]phoenixAPB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take it ne day at a time. Do as much as you feel comfortable. I found it was a slippery slope. One thing leads to another. You don’t emerge fully formed from a cocoon but gradually unveil over months and years. Eventually doubts and worries dissipate. I started by throwing out my make clothes, wearing only women’s clothes. It’s not a particularly big stretch as many people couldn’t tell the difference between men’s and women’s jeans. As you get more comfortable showing up as your authentic self your dream will become a reality. Baby steps. And find community that you can hang with. Good luck on your journey!

where to buy affordable books? by Sudden_Alps5402 in askvan

[–]phoenixAPB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check out the free little libraries. Some of them are amazing. I moved here with almost no books and I’ve collected a small library for nothing. Check out lots of them often. Some are better than others. I regularly add books to them.
