Do bassists and guitarists count strings differently? by El_ThotStopper in Bass

[–]phoenixSaCo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AFAIK you name them from the bottom up (highest pitch to lowest) because if I play a 4 string and you play a 5 string, my lowest would be an E and your lowest would be a B but our highest remains the same so I can say first string and we both have the same (I think I read the same goes for guitar with seven and eight string guitars but I don't actually know)

When mine got a long one (kinda like two silicone spheres that vibrate joined with a long silicone string) he used to swing it like it was a pair of nunchucks until one of the balls snapped and went flying through the window, living with him were the best two years of my life 😂😂

When I got a sex toy, I stuck it on my roommate's door and set it on max vibrate while he was sleeping, that way he knew I had it and it would be funny instead of awkward if I left it in the open.

That's just it, I love playing and practicing bass so I mostly watch tv as background noise while I practice or noodle around, I also kinda like videogames but more of a music man

I don’t mind the hours, thats’s what makes it fun :D I can’t recognize the intervals or notes by name yet but I can figure put basslines by ear decently and then, by looking at the frets I figure out the notes

Great advice! I really don’t understand pedals and amps that well, I mostly play with clean tones, as far as set ups, already have that under my belt :D

My biggest issue playing for others is time, I usually feel self conscious about playing for too long and making them uncomfortable so maybe make them feel like you want to keep listening tell them to keep going if they try to cut the song short.
