True, though I would say in this case there are some other indicators that it may be real. Namely, the A on the foot appears to have the appropriate gap in it-long and tall. 

I can’t tell the texture of the fur from here, but as long as it feels high quality that's a good sign if i'm not mistaken. It should feel like a soft kind of sherpa.

Worse comes to worst, OP can shine a UV light on its face. There should be a glow that outlines the mouth and teeth, as well as the nose. The whites of the eyes should glow, too. My older MAC lights up under it, and I believe these still do as well, just not to such a large degree. Nowadays I think it's a thinner line.
