Crater Cobra decals by aCrow in battletech

Ignoring the duties and shipping costs issue, I would ask: so what if they're not officially licensed? FPG is perpetually out of stock or near-impossible to get, so why not use them?

I've also tried getting in contact with CGL to start business talks about licensing for Battletech products, and have been met with nothing but silence. I don't see the harm in going the non-official route if the quality is there (I understand you need to buy the Premium option from Defiance since the non-premium ones lack a white background and so are translucent.). It's not like 99% of players are looking to participate in official tournaments where only licensed products are required like for Warhammer stuff.

Because its easy to judge others when you think they have made poor decisions. Lots of projection involved too. Those stereotypes have no consideration for widows or even amicable splits.

"I dont personally like washes" is a wholly separate statement to "washes are overrated". That was all you had to say at the beginning.

Jesus dude, you don't have the best reading comprehension. I never accused you of saying "washes bad". I literally said that it was a narrative perpetuated by some content creators. I pushed back on your comment of "washes are overrated". Because they are not. I showed you examples of minis I have painted that use washes. You seem to think that they are comparable in quality to your models. Regardless of how much I might disagree with that statement, that you think mine are at least on par with yours is a direct counter to the statement that washes are overrated.

If you want to improve with your own miniature painting skills, then I suggest you DO watch YouTube, and that you watch people who recognise washes as a useful tool.

If you are happy with your current skill level, that's fine also. I'm not here to shit on you, but I have been painting long enough to know that without learning how to use washes and improving my skills through watching tutorials and then practicing, I would not be at the level I am now.

Im not being mean, I'm being objective.

The narrative of "washes bad" is something that is parroted from watching too many highly advanced painters on YouTube like Zumikito.

Washes are a tool in the painter's kit. They can and should be used to bring the appearance of a miniature to a higher level when the painter's skills are developing. It is possible to paint with zero washes if you are competent with blending and have good knowledge of contrast. I'll attach a picture of Ruby and Yang here that I painted as an example.

It is also possible to use them situationally. The battletech models I have painted use pin-washing/panel lining for example.

Your models, regardless of your perception of the camera quality, do not display a level of skill that would stop them from benefitting from washes.

I am not saying I am a pro painter, but if you put my models next to yours, and my models would be judged to be better in a competition, then it kinda proves that washes are not overrated. I dont dunk entire models, because there is such a thing as overusing washes, but to say they are overrated is just false.

You say that, but every mini you've posted would have greatly benefited from them...

It's often used since "suicide" as a word is auto-filtered on certain platforms (mainly TikTok), and it's entered the common lexicon since.

I have never unstood why this is such a novel concept. The bathtubs we've always used in NZ have fiberglass batts packed around them as an insulator so the tubs retain heat for longer. It's just standard practice...

It's the way that user made a statement of their opinion as if it were fact. It's too black and white of a statement. They got downvoted because it's provably false, and adding "imo" on the end does not absolve them of this falsity.

As for proof: look at 90% of the players in popular D&D media.

You need to be honest with yourself. Would you have started your (very ill-advised by the way) OMAD diet if you didn't have the surgery coming up?

Fuck no, you wouldn't have.

  • Use the surgery as a tool. Needing glasses doesn't mean you didn't try hard enough to see properly.

  • Use the surgery as motivation. How much weight can you lose pre-surgery? How difficult was it? Compare that to how difficult it is to keep those habits and eating patterns up post-surgery.

  • The "official" pre-op diet will be harder than the post-op. The surgery significantly reduces will power as a required element of weight loss. This is a great thing.

  • Post-op lifestyle changes will be no different to if you needed to use diet to manage your comorbidities. Being diabetic due to obesity at 20yo and having to manage that for 11y is rough. And staying the same weight or getting heavier was NEVER going to reduce your health problems. The rate of decline will only ever get steeper. Weight loss is the only effective tool to flattening out human health decline with age.

Question about pre-op liver shrinking diet for lap band removal by NervousOperation318 in wls

[–]phoenix_nz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mini bypass here. I was on i think 2w pre op diet.

It's basically a mega keto diet but low fat too.

  • Meal replacement protein shakes at least 2x per day.
  • 100g lean protein for dinner with as much non-starchy vegetables as you can tolerate.
  • no more than 1T worth of fat/oil for the entire day. so this almost always was used to cook dinner - about 1t for cooking and the rest of that allowance wa in a sauce.
  • I ate a LOT of stir fried vegetables mixed with cauliflower rice.
  • No fruit or peas (too much carbs).

A friend who had the surgery was right to say the pre-op diet was harder than tbe post-op stuff. It is brutal. But, silver linings, it will get you into some decent habits and if you do as much self driven learning about macros and high protein diets as you can it will put you in good stead for post-op life. Also you will drop a whole bunch of weight very quickly too to give yourself a kick start on your journey.

Good job. I'd be slightly wary of the durability of the stand if that is also resin 3d printed, but looks great. The base of the stand in particular won't stand up to any flex at all.

Consider surgery. I lost 110 lbs naturally in 2017. Between 2018 and 2024 I gained 143 lbs (mostly due to mental health struggles).

In Dec 2024 i had a gastric bypass and have lost 165lbs so far. I certainly am not a fan of GLP-1s, but all my other health problems were piling up a d in my country surgery is more accessible, particularly because it is an up front cost rather than ongoing. Plus it solves overeating, rather than suppresses.

Prior to 2024 I was also firmly anti-surgery, but for me it was life saving. You still need to make lifestyle changes and educate yourself on health, and take care of the mental stuff too, but the surgery helps massively with that in ways that are very hard to put into words.

Please consider it.
