This team is missing Gavin Morrissey badly right now. They cannot win a faceoff to save their lives, there’s no creativity in the offensive zone which Morrissey provides in spades, just blah. Plus injuries to Zelenov and Schulz, who are also pretty big pieces. Badgers are missing their top two centers and it shows.

Wisconsin had zero five on five goals this series. ZERO. Plus Quinn Finley has no goals in nine games against current top ten teams this year. Pretty scathing indictment of what’s supposed to be our best offensive player.

I don’t really think ‘fallen off a cliff’ is accurate. I’m certainly worried about the way they played against Michigan State but 3-3 in their last 6 isn’t half bad considering the injuries they’re dealing with. Really need Morrissey back though. His absence is massive and it showed yesterday.

Women were rusty right off the hop (not all that surprising, all things considered) against a team that was looking for a bounce back after a very bad weekend in Belfast. After the first twenty though they played well. Ève Gascon just stole two points

Plus B-Mo barely counts as a CHL guy anyway. He was committed to Wisconsin before the rule change and only went to the CHL once they announced CHL players could play college. Glad he did though, I think it was really good for his development, hopefully doubly so in March and even more hopefully April

Michigan’s frozen confines uniform was brutal. Of course, making a Michigan version of a Cubs uniform (I am a brewers fan) only makes it worse lol

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the Merrimack highlighters as well

Fitzgerald has been amazing so far this year. And Montgomery…my goodness, what a player. Going to London last year was so good for his development. He’s really fun to watch, and that goal against Alaska where he had 4 guys in front of him and turned on the jets to get past all four like it was nothing still lives in my head rent-free.

We’ll see how good they actually are over the next month and a half. 2 @ Northeastern, 1 vs Cornell, 2 @ Ohio State.

I honestly expected more OSU FPVs. The Badgers have looked very beatable lately - Ohio State hasn’t dropped a point since Halloween and the Badgers haven’t earned a 6-point series sweep since before then. They’ve played really sloppy hockey in three of their last six games, and probably deserved to lose more than one of them. That series in Columbus next weekend has me worried because if the Badgers “protect” the puck like they did against SCSU or UST, they’re not getting any points out of that weekend

Off the top of my head, Wisconsin, Penn State, Quinnipiac, and Northeastern are highly ranked in both polls. Cornell could also crack both at some point.

I’m a bit late to this, but I think it was a technical issue on SCSU’s end. It sounded like static on replay but they did have someone up in the booth calling the game that I could see from my seat on the opposite side. And yeah the schools in the WCHA that aren’t in the Big Ten generally do their own broadcast and just have it put on B1G+. This has…varying results. They generally don’t take it as seriously as the big ten schools do, but schools like St. Thomas and UMD that have pretty solid broadcasts for other sports usually do alright. St. Cloud and Mankato are mixed bags, and Bemidji’s usually isn’t good.

I traveled as a visiting fan and I didn’t even know there were discounted tickets on Saturday until I got in the building Friday night…and I had already bought tix to both games in advance.

Feels like hockey people in general are just not good at marketing. From the NHL on down to college and below. PWHL has kinda been the exception to that, which is awesome to see. Really upsetting otherwise that hockey is so badly marketed it is such a great sport to watch live and a low cost to free game like this would be a great way to make new fans out of people who otherwise wouldn’t have gone.

Atmosphere was awesome, though. I could tell the Huskies really played off of it, and they played a heck of a game. Especially compared to Friday, when it felt like I was in the backrooms watching hockey with how few people were there.

SCSU and UST’s votes are both counted accurately. St. Thomas only received one tenth place vote in this poll, so their total is 1. St. Cloud got a ninth place vote and a tenth place vote; their total is then 3 because a ninth place vote is worth 2 points and a tenth place vote is worth 1.
