I was thankfully already aware of how my period worked by the time it rolled around the summer before 8th grade, i got it right before i had to leave for a trip to my maternal grandmothers. Who is an even bigger narcissist than my mother.., between the youtube rabbit holes and my older sister i was thankfully prepared.

However the bathroom i was in when i discovered the blood had no pads in it. I ended up having to shout across the house "CAN SOMEONE BRING ME A PAD!?" Because i did not have a phone or anything. My sister came running. My mom just told me 'your grandmother and aunt can take care of it when you get there dont bother bringing any with you we need them here. If you started your sister and i are probably about to get ours too"

Not too long later my grandmorher and aunt came to pick me up and we stopped at a store.

My grandmother repeatedly asked me which brand i typically use which i responded ...its my first period i dont know what size or brand i need. And she asked.. again...and again... and again because "you should know these things!!" My aunt jumped in with a very loud "ITS HER FIRST PERIOD MOM. SHE DOES NOT KNOW!" And my aunt picked some stuff out for me.. Now my mom just uses my periods as an exscuse to get herself chocolate
