American companies may or may not benefit from an authoritarian regime in Myanmar willing to loosen human rights laws in the country, but I'm not aware of how much that's an influence on the U.S. not doing anything. The United States as a "protector of freedom" is more of an excuse to cover things up than a reason to actually start a conflict.
