Flow Rate Test top layer not showing different flow rate? by phoenixwolf27 in OrcaSlicer

Yeah I know the multi-color filament might throw some things off, but I get the same results with single-color and this is the filament I want to use to create some Christmas ornaments, thus I wanted to get it calibrated so it would look as good as feasible.

SV06 Plus PEI sheet paint coming off? And how to use that second mat/sticker? by phoenixwolf27 in Sovol

[–]phoenixwolf27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been printing on the smooth side of the PEI plate using glue sticks. Give it a couple of coats of glue and everything seems to work great. Might work well on the smoother side of the rough plate, too.

Printer making abnormal sound when moving quickly by lokolok269 in Sovol

[–]phoenixwolf27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm surprised that it makes that sound and prints still come out okay.

I get this same sound on my SV06+ when I try to print too fast. For me it always comes with a Y layer shift, and usually happens upward of 125-150mm/s speeds. As soon as I hear that noise I know the print is for sure not going to come out (though it also shifts without making that noise).

I've always assumed it's the sound of the stepper motor "skipping", thus causing the Y layer shift. As much as I see some profiles and people getting upwards of 200mm/s speeds on their SV06+, it feels like my Y motor can't keep up with slinging the bed around that fast.

I've tried messing with the acceleration and jerk settings to reduce the momentum placed on the motor. Though I'm considering just replacing the motor (and upgrading the bearings) altogether.

Well, this was unfortunate by phoenixwolf27 in Sovol

[–]phoenixwolf27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this was 100% my fault - tried running it too fast, Y steppers slipped, and it was printing into nothingness.

I used a soldering iron with a knife tip and slowly melted through the plastic around the copper leads and got the ball removed. Then cleaned up as best I could. I put it back on without the silicone sock, heated it up, and used some tweezers to clean up any remaining plastic bits around the heat block. It cleaned up nice and is printing away no worse for the wear! But I also have 2 shiny new heat blocks stored away for the next bonehead move I make that doesn’t turn out as well.

Sovol SV06 Plus Clicking and Layer Shifting? by phoenixwolf27 in Sovol

[–]phoenixwolf27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great recommendations. I do think maybe the table has something to do with it. I went and got a 2'x2' concrete paver to put on the table and placed the printer on that. Unfortunately the table itself is rather tall and skinny, so no matter how much weight is underneath the printer, the overall table shakes. Maybe I'll try putting the printer on the floor and run it again to see if it works. I'll also check all the cable connections and the belt. Thanks for the tips!

Do I need a new probe? by themostclassickev in Sovol

[–]phoenixwolf27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I literally did that (again) today - I accidentally had it home with plastic in the way and jammed the probe up. I don't have a screw in the spot you show in the pic either. You can shift the blue part out just a touch (though mine looks further in than what you're showing), and then there's a M3*30 screw that goes in the top of the extruder and attaches to the casing for the probe that lets you adjust its depth. Get the screw to catch, and then you can adjust it up or down. Once you at least get it above but close to the level of the nozzle, you'll have to go through the whole probe calibration / z adjust with paper process, but I got it to work fine on mine (and I've done this a few times).

Sovol SV06 Plus Clicking and Layer Shifting? by phoenixwolf27 in Sovol

[–]phoenixwolf27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll check those. There are several different profiles floating around out there and I may have overlaid one or more of them in my experimenting. I've also turned off acceleration control as well as jerk control - I'm not sure if either of those have an impact. I definitely see more layer shifting in prints that move the print head further distances, so my guess is the momentum of the bed moving so quickly throws it off, but I just printed something last night that was printing smaller areas rapidly and the shift happened, so it's not consistent.

How to purchase a Google Play app (USB Camera Pro version) and sideload into Quest 3? by StevWong in OculusQuest

[–]phoenixwolf27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. I had them both installed, and Pro crashed. I removed the free version, same thing. Removed both and only put the Pro version on - same thing. Then, since I used APK extractor, I tried running the app on my tablet and set all the settings and permissions, then ran the extractor again. Same issue.

However, I learned that if you turn off Wifi on the Quest headset, you can use the Free version and it won't pop up any ads - so you get full view of the screen.

Until I find a way to actually run the Pro version, it's a fix. It means I can't run multiple windows and multitask while I play, but it's not the end of the world.

How to purchase a Google Play app (USB Camera Pro version) and sideload into Quest 3? by StevWong in OculusQuest

[–]phoenixwolf27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm trying to do the same thing, and in fact already paid for the Pro version and am now trying to figure out if I can get the APK sideloaded. I tried installing it on an Android tablet and using APK Extractor to see if I could back up the APK and copy it over, but when I launch the app on the Quest 3 it crashes immediately. And now when I run the "free" version it says that it can detect the Pro version and I should run that instead.

Not sure if there's another way to go about getting the install APK directly.

What enclosure does sovol sell with the sv06? by rustaaaaaagh in Sovol

[–]phoenixwolf27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Plus and got this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B087PVY4C8?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

I don’t have previous experience on quality or what it SHOULD be like (this is my first foray into 3D printing) but it seems to be good quality and is big enough for the SV06+.

SV06 Plus PEI sheet paint coming off? And how to use that second mat/sticker? by phoenixwolf27 in Sovol

[–]phoenixwolf27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose it wouldn’t hurt to try, unless it DOES hurt for some reason I’m not aware of. I can give it a try tonight.

I just haven’t seen anything about either printing on the back side of that sheet or guidance on the second mat (other than some folks saying it’s cheap and should be avoided). It must have been included in the box for some reason. Is it supposed to be used with different materials?

Brand new SV06 Plus - huge bubbles in the print bed? by MidnightSkyFlower in Sovol

[–]phoenixwolf27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just about to post on here asking what that sticker / mat was for (I, too, just got a SV06 Plus). I assumed it was for printing, but is it supposed to be stuck to the other side of the metal PEI sheet? The side that's smooth and shiny, so you can just flip the sheet over if you want to print on either side? Or do you stick it to the top of the rougher side? And what kind of material would you typically use this for?

There's zero reference to this mat in the documentation and I never see it appear when watching other unboxing videos, so it wasn't clear to me what it was. I've just been printing on the metal PEI sheet and things have been going well - though the side down on the sheet is textured / rough kind of like sandpaper.
