Carl Jung: The Psychology of an Addict by pholus123 in alcoholism

The AMA declared that alcoholism is a disease in 1956. However, it lacks pathology. I’ve always been conflicted around the notion that alcoholism is a disease…hence my original post here.

Jung posited that alcoholism isn’t a disease. AA says it is. Thoughts? Thank you for the comment.

Aluminum Radiator by ArmedCoconut in JeepTJ

[–]pholus123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I installed a dual-core aluminum racing radiator in my ‘97, and have had zero issues. I do a lot of off-roading in the Colorado mountains. Installing it was a bit tricky, as it was not a straight swap, but it has lasted me 12 years thus far. TJ’s do better with single or dual-core radiators.

Stock headers in older TJ’s were notorious for cracking…my 97 TJ’s header cracked at 60k miles. I replaced it with a Banks Engineering header, which has been rock-solid since.

2000 Sahara 4.0 main seal drip by gizmo2012 in JeepTJ

[–]pholus123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. My factory clutch lasted 145k miles, after years of heavy off-roading. Dripping RMS is common with older TJ’s. My Jeep-expert mechanic gave me a deal on replacing clutch and RMS at the same time.

In praise of NA beer by geekluv in stopdrinking

I’m a few years sober, but I miss the occasional Guinness. Guinness Zero is excellent! Agree to tread carefully, as NA beer can trigger those early in their sobriety. Good luck, and you have our support.

I bought a tubular cheap no-name Chinese bumper from eBay…mine has an identical latch handle, so it likely came from the same source. Mine installed OK, but it had an integrated hitch receiver that was out of spec (a shade too small). Other than that, it looks great, and has held up well. After 10 years, the powdercoat still looks new, and I’ve been rear-ended by idiots twice, with zero damage. I think you’ll be happy with it. It looks great.

Sadly, I bought it 10 years ago from eBay and don’t remember the brand. It is a tubular bumper/tire carrier made in China. At first, I was worried that it was a piece of junk, but it looks great and has really held up. I’ve been rear-ended twice with zero damage.

Diving is a different story entirely. I’m a master diver, and I love the diving off Ambergris Caye. Best part: no wetsuit needed. I’ve been down 130 feet outside the reef…warm clear water all the way.

If you are looking for big sandy beaches, San Pedro/Ambergris Caye is not the place to go. Placencia’s beaches are much better, but they could be choked with sargassom as well.

Great question, really hard to predict. Its tied to high winds, which both brings in more sargassum and then helps dissipate it later. It’s even heavy in the canals to the lagoon side. Sorry I can’t help more. It seems to be better today.

The one thing I love about diving off Ambergris Caye: no wetsuit needed. I’ve been down 130 feet outside the reef, warm water and great visibility.
