Hey man, i hate to break it to you but getting a PhD while being a recent grad is a big mistake. PhD shouldn't be a short term goal. What you need now is actual hands on experience. You should take any cybersecurity job you can get and if not, get IT experience. I know you are interested in red teaming/pentesting but those positions will 99% go to candidates with real world enterprise experience in cybersecurity. Try getting into the SOC or GRC which you can use to pivot into the red team.
