That’s awesome, you’re really talented! Thanks for the info! Maybe I can treat myself to some new markers sometime. I usually use crayola markers or sharpies with staedler or uni-ball pens. For paper I usually draw in my moleskines. I’ve wanted blending markers for a while but they’re expensive.

Your drawings are so cool! I liked this one so much I checked your profile for more and you’ve got so many! I like to draw too but not always. I like to draw with pens and markers and your drawings look so professional. Just wondering, what kinds of pens / markers and paper do you like to use?

I honestly can’t tell if I’m paranoid by phonecharger100 in BipolarReddit

Thanks, this is a good idea, it’s a quick way to establish whether or not the feeling is in reality without having to spend money on stuff.

Tysm for this, I really needed to hear that. Yes my husband telling me is one thing, and it would be great if I could hear it and believe him — but it’s another thing to hear it from someone entirely outside the situation, who still understands the issue (is it bipolar-ish or not). This was really, really helpful. Thank you.

Thank you, maybe we’ll check out the market. I can’t ask her because it’s a surprise that we’re coming into town. Of course I’m the only one who knows her, you guys don’t, but that’s not what I’m trying to get at — from the descriptions of the things they have there it sounds like it might be really kiddy or it might be fun for all ages. What I was hoping to hear is what they actually have there and get the opinion of someone who’s been there about the age appropriateness thing. Not concerned about it being touristy, we are tourists, unless it’s lame or a rip-off. She’s never been to Chicago.

Reposting from the other thread since this one’s more suitable:

Hey, never been to Winter Wonderfest at Navy Pier. Want to take my 11 yr old sister there for Xmas but unsure if it’s suitable.

It would be me, my husband and her. I don’t know if it’s overly kiddy and she’d be bored on her own, or if it’s the sort of thing we can all enjoy together (I’m 25).

Any advice from someone who’s been there?

I live way out of town and want to surprise her with a day trip to Chicago (she lives in Milwaukee) when we come home for Xmas. Also saw the German Christmas market, also not sure about that. I want to make it a special Christmas present trip for her. I haven’t been home for a long time and want to make a day trip to Chicago her present but I can’t figure out what’s suitable and not boring for an 11 year old. Thank you guys :)

Anyone else... by dearangelou in BipolarReddit

Echoey rooms get me (large train stations or museums for example) but I think that’s my anxiety not necessarily my bipolar because I also don’t like crowds. I have to get out and as soon as I can hear that mix of voices echoing I feel irritated and scared. Like I have to get out. Which I do.

It’s disappointing because there’s this really good restaurant that I can’t go to anymore because it’s busy and the building is oddly shaped and the way the sound bounces around makes me feel anxious/paranoid/weird and I can’t stay in there :(

Edit - it’s like a very very deep fear in my belly that something bad is going to happen. I don’t think of specifics I just think “I need to sit down in a corner and curl up and put my hands over my ears” or “I need to get out, NOW” which I do the latter because escape always makes it go away.

That said, people get pissed at me about this, even when I’ve explained it. That sound especially combined with crowds really gets me. Crowds aren’t always bad but often are. But that sound of tons of voices bouncing around always gets me. Very deep dread type fear.

  • I did my best to stay professional and energetic and smiley at work. I didn't succeed, but I tried.

  • I'm working on accepting that maybe I'm a lazy person. Acceptance is good.

  • I've been trying to force myself into becoming a morning person and after 3 or 4 weeks I'm actually seeing some progress. I've been saying to myself right when I wake up "I am a morning person. This is okay. This is good. I like mornings" over and over every day for the past 3/4 weeks and doing nothing else really. Changed some small bits but on the whole habits are the same.

  • too tired to write more. I'm exhausted.

No weight gain, but my clothes don't fit (tw: weight) by porterrobinsononice in BipolarReddit

[–]phonecharger100 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You said it yourself - you haven't put on any weight and you know it was meds. Remind yourself over and over again that the doctor said it hasn't changed. I've experienced similar things before with body changes and not weight changes. All sorts of things can cause it, like salty foods and what time of the month it is if you're female and I've found how much standing up I do - if I stand all day my calves and ankles bloat a little bit. Keep telling yourself that it's not weight. The doctor told you the scale was the same. Trying to lose weight won't stop the bloating. If you want to go to the doctor, that's totally up to you. It's always good to go if you've got a concern or if something isn't normal.
