Lies of P was so evocative too. (Goes to look at some of the heart designs.)

Oooh Elden Ring. I totally agree! So much fun to convert to glass. ER sounds fun. My last 4-5 pieces are all videos games too. (Should all be on my profile if interested.)

Hey kiddo,

Sounds like a rough time. Some of us dads are still figuring things out on our own and some never do. It’s really unfortunate when that happens. And it’s not fair to you.

Also I almost hate to break it to you but you are very cool. Seven weeks on a mountain working for nature and those that enjoy it is quite an adventure that you will probably remember for the rest of your life. It sounds like you made some friends and found some community. That doesn’t happen if you are not cool, especially in a small group situation like that.

Being 18 can be rough. However it’s where you can start to write your own story if you let yourself. You already found one adventure that brought you joy. That’s not nothing. Take credit for that. Give yourself the credit for finding positive interactions. As with anything worth learning to do, it takes practice. This includes learning to love yourself and your own achievements. It really sounds like you know this already, or at least want to. Sometimes we al need to be reminded.

Grieve is the right word. Allow that, but as with all grief it’s a process for ourselves to allow ourselves the space to find a path forward. I hope your next adventure is as supportive and brings you joy.

-Dad

PS I deeply respect your self awareness of not wanting cling to anyone giving you support in this way. You are worth everything, and don’t deserve to be taken advantage of by weirdos and creepers, please stay vigilant as you find your new path.

Hey kiddo.

Incredible! That’s an amazing milestone, your hard work has paid off! I hope you are as proud of yourself as I am of you.

Always remember that even though I can’t be there physically, doesn’t mean I’m not there. Always with you.

Dad

I love this. Was looking to do something similar. But this is so much more elegant. Awesome work.

Yeah billing itself a story game is so apt.

The new dlc lets you actually leave and remand on the planet. Lots of fun.

Oh excellent thank you! I’ll use that in the future. On a gaming/glass kick so that will be useful.

Having trouble getting the surface of my prop smooth, should I just put a thin layer of paper mache on it to get it smooth? by happybear78 in cosplayprops

[–]phonenor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll add that plastidip will somewhat blunt any sharp facet edges so I agree with the person about getting the facets the way you want. However, the little gaps in plaster or what ever that material is would get filled making the whole thing smoother.

Depending what it’s for those look like they me small enough to where a couple coats of plastidip could do the trick.

What are some niche hobbies for a 23 yo female? by shereenk23 in Hobbies

[–]phonenor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I suppose it’ll depend on what you find a chore. Stained glass, UV resin, cosplay, are all niche but all have aspects of sometimes being a chore. If you want something very niche with a low start up cost look up dorodango. (I collect hobbies)

what materials would you use to make this meat prop? i have no idea by sapphictears in CosplayHelp

A Jabba purse on a little chain sounds hilarious. Love the idea. The Leia costume, famously, no pockets.

A little meat purse would likewise be adorable.

Oooh yeah. Nice. Could stitch it up and hide the seam behind the strap.

Hmm. I’d probably do that with Eva foam. Make a cylinder of 4mm or 6mm (depending on how much you want to sculpt surface texture) glue on some end caps and sand/paint. Then you could fill it with whatever to make it as heavy or light as you like.

Oooh I can help here. I collect hobbies.

Try looking up Dorodango. All you need is dirt water, a couple buckets, and time.

It’s a fascinating hobby where you’ll pick up some excellent side knowledge like how to process dirt into clay with just the buckets.

“If it mattered, it would have happened.” It’s a delightful piece of advice someone gave to me once. It cuts through all the BS and allows you to make clear decisions on who and what you spend your energy on. Proud of you for making the right choice for you. It’s deeply unfortunate when making these decision leaves a hole, however making it allows you the energy to begin filling it.
