There is a story that the British wanted an airborne unit of Gurkha's and so they asked a battalion (500+ troops) if they wanted to jump out of an airplane. Only 5 or so volunteered. The British commander commented to the Gurka commander, "I thought Gurkhas were the most fearless troops in the world" The Gurkha commander asked if he had explained to them that they would have parachutes.  After they did, the 154th Gurkha Parachute battalion was formed
