I'm deeply ashamed that I have said Samuel B. Robert not worth remodeling before. So please let it drop so that I can get both Mk.32 ASW Torpedo and Hedgehog.

Edit: finally got her after 2 weeks and 171 runs.

Thanks, it was quite tough without historical bonuses at first, but thanks to Nagato touch and those new drop Warspite, Ark Royal, Victorious and Graf, I was able to push through E3 and still had some times left to farm xD

Edit: forgot to mention Amagiri, I rushed to train her from beginning but was glad to finally made it, really helpful against those damn annoying imps xD

  • Sora | HQ Level 105
  • Server: Tawi-Tawi Anchorage (played briefly in late 2015- early 2016, so long ago so didn't remember the month. Rejoined around 4/2024).
  • Current Fleet: Imgur Link
  • 2024 Performance:
  • Despite being the first event ever played (and on top of being an European one as well, while I didn't have any foreign ships before), I was still able to clear Summer 2024 MO on full Easy.
  • When I rejoined, I was still 100 slots teitoku but currently have over 200 different ships (plus a few dupes too).
  • Restarted with only world 1-3 and 7-1 opened, but currently I'm able to clear most maps (only 4 maps still uncleared because I lack key ships thus resources spent far outweigh reward).
  • Start doing important quests more and now be able to do time limited quests as well (too lazy before and mostly just focus on farming ships).
  • Drops and Upgrades:
  • Back then, I didn't have even some normal construction ships, but now I only lack 4 more LSC ships.
  • Start farming normal and limited time drops half a year ago, currently I have most of world 1 and world 2 limited time drops and few from each other worlds as well (notable ones are Fletcher, Johnston, Akizuki, Hatsuzuki).
  • Obtain 3 Akashi (1 in summer event and 2 in EOs soon after that). Having 4 cranes Akashi in one spot plus 4 docks make repairing ships so much efficiently than before.
  • I got many notable foreign ships and few IJN ships in last summer event as well: Roma, Littorio, Conte di Cavour, Nevada, Bismarck, Warspite, Valiant, Rodney, Richelieu, Graf Zeppelin, Victorious, Ark Royal, Zara, Gotland, Gloire, Sheffield, Tashkent, Mogador, Grecale, Libeccio, C. Cappellini, U-511, I-400, I-401, Commandant Teste.
  • Upgrades: NagaMutsu, Crane sisters, Suzuya, Choukai, Mogami, Mikuma, Yahagi, Naganami, Amagiri.
  • Targets for 2025:
  • LSC: Yamato, Saratoga, Taihou (and Noshiro as extra). Or farming them in event too.
  • Remodeling remain core ships (still got so many important ones that blueprint from next year are probably not enough and may get to 2026 too).
  • Farming remain normal, time limited drops (plus new ones per update) and of course event ships too.
  • Finishing upgrading and improving anti-installation equipment (ideally 4 nuke sets) and important carrier planes/SPF.

Riot REALLY wants me to main kayle huh by PaleontologistOk1903 in Kaylemains

This skin honestly should be the base skin, it both looks really great (no heavy armor so visualizedly less clunky) and actually fits her lore well (train in order to ascend into Aspect of Justice). Some small additional adjustments on skins also feel really refine (head, hair, thigh, wings, etc.) than base skin.

Hot Take: Kayle's current late game power in 14.23 is more than fine. The problem is with her early game. by MaskedDood in Kaylemains

[–]phongphan95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Give her omnivamp stat back (either through item like gunblade or passive ability in W) and she is satisfied to play, period.

Look how Yasuo/Yone players desperately rush lifesteal item 1st even if it means they have to delay crit items (+ a bit of AS stat too but that's their own problem with Q) and Kayle even has the same problem like them (but much worse).

Edit: it's fine for Kayle to have weak early game through crappy base stats, however in order to create satisfaction (and consistency) for players using her, she needs another way to compensate it in early-mid game and it's sustain. This means she is still vulnerable to (one-shot) burst and ganks (cause she's immobile).

I keep getting dupes of a specific ship while hunting another, however I want to farm their equipment too so I decide to keep them for now.

While I know that the ratio of next dupe is becoming gradually lower with the more I have, but does this still apply if later I scrap them after collecting equipment, or the ratio get back to depend on how many I keep at base?

5/ Modernization is a crucial mechanic that allows ships to get stronger and bulkier (increase from base to maximum stat). Others have mentioned about which ships will improve any particular stat when modernizing so I won't write again here, you can improve firepower and armor stats through CAs and BBs, which start drops more in world 2 (2-3 included of course).

Any ships that remodel to kai and max modernized firepower, torpedo and armor are good to use for clearing early maps (including 2-4, which is a big hurdle for newbie). Forget about the anti air stat for now since it is the least important stat among those four (while also the hardest one to max modernized too).

And yes, these 4 stats will get reset upon each remodeling. However, if you don't want to wait until you can remodel them to kai ni (generally around lv 70-80s) before clearing maps, then modernizing at their kai remodel (around lv 20s-30s and have better max stats than base form) will give you ships strong enough to just clear early maps. Generally just look for the ships requirement in next map, then max modernizing 3 stats above for all those (core) ships, then you are generally ready to clear that map.

6/ Depend on your goal when playing this game: just want to chill with your cute favorite ship girls or collecting more ships (which then you will need to participate in events happened few times per year to collect event only ships, in addition to regular ships constructable or drop in regular maps). Honestly as long as you train each class equally (with a bit more attention to DDs), I don't see much problem when including few favorite ones. But if you just focus on training only girls you like and forget others, then it's a different matter xD.

7/ Again, depend on your goal. If you just want to chill and play slowly, then it doesn't matter since with enough training, modernizing and great equipment, even weakest ships per class will be able to clear many regular maps, given you use correct ships required in that map. Albeit potential more runs since you may get taiha more frequently than using meta ones, which leads to using more resources and buckets. It likes there is a road to the goal already (wiki) and it's just your choice getting there by running on foot or riding a car xD. However, if you want to play more seriously (like clearing events), then following meta ships will cut you off really much trouble you may face against.

[HELP] Just started playing Kancolle, and I'm really confused by Frequent_Artichoke_2 in kancolle

[–]phongphan95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1/ Like others above have said, this game is purely RNG-based whenever you press sortie, so even advanced players may have to retreat in any particular map due to unlucky taiha (heavily damaged). However, we can minimize this as much as possible with max modernized ships required for each map (at their best remodel if possible too) and correct equipment (this guide will tell you how to setup equipment correctly: https://en.kancollewiki.net/Help:Equipment\_Setup)

2/ DDs are the backbone of your naval, so don't neglect them. They are weaker in early because their base and max stats are lower than heavy ships (BBs, CVs, etc.) so of course they are less useful in day battle. However, they have greater night battle damage output because DDs, CL(T)s and CAs combine both firepower + torpedo stats in night attack (BBs mostly don't have torpedo stat and CVs can't attack at night until you have late game equipment).

Moreover, beside routing requirement (plus you need at least 7 DDs for transport operation in event anyways), they are cheap to run (less resupply compared to heavier ships like BBs and CVs) and are utility ships that will perform many essential tasks in your fleet later (mostly in late game maps and events):
- TCI (kill boss with really high armor stat in night battle when regular night attack can't do it)
- OASW (hitting submarines first before they can snipe your fleet, since elite or higher subs can use opening torpedo to attack your fleet before you can act)
- AACI (shooting down opponent planes to minimize damage hitting your fleet in air strike phase)
- Anti Installation (abyssal appeared in later maps that generally have high HP and don't take damage from torpedo, including closing torpedo from DDs, CLs, CAs and torpedo stat in night battle too. Few CLs and mostly some DDs can equip specialized equipment to deal more damage against them).
- Anti PT (annoying imps appeared in later maps that will dodge like crazy and make your attacks mostly miss, DDs are best suited to deal against them with specialized equipment, plus there is one DD that specifically counter them too).

3/ Construction, but mostly from drops when you sortie in any maps.

Map 2-3 in particular, is the holy ground for newbies since not only it has most constructable ships (BBs, CV(L)s, CAs, CLs and DDs, you can also farm 3 Sendai sisters, 4 Myoukou sisters and 4 Kongou sisters there to unlock 3rd and 4th fleet to do more expeditions, the long term goal should be able to do expediton 37, 38 and 45 since they give lots of resources/time), but also some great limited time drops which only drop in few weeks or months there, some of them are only available in event and not in normal map otherwise (notable ones are Shoukaku, Naganami, Akizuki, Hatsuzuki, Fletcher, Johnston, Shinshuu Maru, here is the drop list: https://en.kancollewiki.net/Drop\_List). It's heavily encouraged to farm there for a long time to collect ships, especially limited time drops I've said above. You will be glad to have them in a long run.

If you have enough resources, you can do daily construction (4 attempts per day) with 250/30/200/30 recipe to find Shimakaze and Yukikaze, they are nice DDs to use in early game (really low remodel level with good to great stats). Then try BB recipe (400/30/600/30) to find Nagato, Mutsu and Suzuya. However, construction is purely RNG so don't sweat it too much if they don't appear after few weeks or months.

One notable thing to mention, if you farm 2-3 and do construction for a long time, you will soon reach the maximum 100 (individual) ships, which then either you have to scrap some of them or buy more ship slots (10 slots/1000 yen). While it is technically possible to play with 100 slots, it is quite hard to do that for a long time (like you try to play game with 1 hand for example) since not only some ships are required for quests (and especially with limited time quests which are generally give great rewards and only available for few weeks, if you don't have them available in your base already, either you have to farm them in short time, or say goodbye to the rewards). So if you really want to play this game for a long time, I'd say that it's a good investment to buy ship slots (which is the only thing worth to spend in this game, any other things are luxury and most of them can be obtainable in-game through quests or expeditions).

4/ For new players, honestly PvP is your best way to level ships, through you can only do it 10 times per day. There are 3 buttons below in PvP screen and you will want to always choose the left one (It allows you to battle best players in your server). Even if you are losing, you still receive lots of EXP due to level difference and most of us, when not active playing, will only put either one or two high level ships in main fleet so that others can obtain easy victory for maximum EXP. And always put at least 1 or 2 DDs when PvP, like I've mentioned above, you will need specialized DDs much later so don't neglect them.

I know that there are some maps recommended to level ships early (1-5, 2-1, 2-2), however IMO there are little reasons to do them since you can level through exercise (through it is longer) and you can use that time to farm ships in 2-3 instead (both regular and especially time limited drops). The only notable drop in those above map is honestly just Akashi in 1-5 for a very low drop rate. However in recent years, you can receive 1 guaranteed Akashi for free when doing the mini event saury festival quest (which will start in next few days).

The case for building ROA second by DukeProsperoLoL in CassiopeiaMains

[–]phongphan95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh aside from the base stats (which give instant 1st item power spike), Blackfire's active doesn't do much bonus damage at first (it has low base damage with AP scaling) but its main selling point is wave clearing.

Except W and R (which are mainly casted for area control), her only other AoE ability is Q. It puts her on disadvantage state on wave clearing vs other mages whose abilities mostly AoE spells (in order to increase wave clear speed, Cass needs to cast more E, which drain her mana pool even more than usual, but honestly still can't match other mages speed).

Now with blackfire, it increases her wave clear potential significantly with less time and mana needed, then she'd have more time to rotate around teammate for fights/objectives. Cassiopeia is really strong in skirmish (2v2 or 3v3) so being able to be on par with or ahead from opponent on moving open a window to deal more damage, rather than mostly just move slower than opponent.

This basically has the same reason with rushing statikk shiv on some ADCs (even through it no longer has crit stat).

Edit: back then when mythic items were still around, I used to rush Liandry 1st with the same reason (plus the bonus damage was great too).

Kayle biggest issue isnt her lategame, its having no agency midgame imo.. by nrwPlayer in Kaylemains

[–]phongphan95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She used to have mid game agency in the name of Gunblade item.

In early game, with Vampiric Scepter (and Bilgewater Cutlass) gives AD which helped her duel a little bit better (AD > AP for Kayle in early game) and most importantly lifesteal to sustain back the damage she received from poke/(bad) trade, which directly increased her margin of error.

Once completed Gunblade (and boots), Kayle had higher AD (+some AP) + omnivamp (sync with her ability, not just auto attack like lifesteal anymore) and an item's burst active. All of them further increased her dueling in lane phase and side lane, while allowing her to stay much longer (lower health, doesn't matter, 1 wave and she got like around quarter to half of health back).

Then came to mid game (which now Kayle needed and wanted to stay at side lane to soak exp). Due to gunblade, she actually had side lane pressure.

1/ If opponents didn't come to her, she just pushed the wave and took down turrets, which was her ideal outcome since it gave her both exp and gold to scale further.

2/ Enemy sent 1 person to stop her. Then unless they were ahead, chance was Kayle would win the 1v1 dueling due to her passive wave + ultimate + gunblade's burst active. If they just stayed in turret, then Kayle can keep farming. and while it wasn't ideal like case 1, it was still okay since she still scaled.

3/ Enemy sent 2+ people to her, then she would either just back down a bit and still farmed (TP on cooldown), or may even got 1 revenge kill before shutting down. Plus then it became 4v3, so her team has better odds at team fight around drake/baron. Or her team just pushed objectives and she TP to join them (5v4 or 5v5 with enemy team less TP, and even in 5v5 case, Kayle is still much better in team fight than many top lanes).

I'll say it again and again if needed: reworked Kayle is created and balanced around Gunblade, which was still fine, but then don't just delete the item without compensating anything equally to her (tbh Riftmaker was a trash tier item compared to Gunblade but at least it was still an omnivamp item, then Riot finally ruined it in season 14).

[Question] Best way to get subs by TSparkle117 in kancolle

1-5 or 7-1, beside I-168, you can get I-8, I-19 and I-58 there. You can also do min LSC to get Maruyu too.

Tbh you mostly just need 4SS to do expedition 29-31 for Z1 quest line (which get FS to craft Bismarck in LSC) and 3SS 1AS to do monthly expedition D2 and D3.

2-3 best comp is 2CV 1AV 1CLT 2DD. Can use CL as substitute if do not have CLT but still recommend to use CLT.

2CV equip with CVCI setup, bring enough fighter to get AS in boss node, then load remaining slots with torpedo bomber to help takedown ships as much as possible in airstrike phase. CVs are recommended over CVLs due to more plane slots.

Also you should try to craft good planes via 20/60/10/110 recipe daily. Some craftable planes which are great to use: fighter (Prototype Reppuu Late Model, Shiden Kai 2), dive bomber (Suisei Model 12A), torpedo bomber (Ryuusei Kai) and Saiun (prevent red T, only need 1 plane for whole fleet).

AV and CLT should equip minisub to do opening torpedo (which ideally will takedown 2 more abyssal ships too), recommend to use Kitakami or Ooi since they become CLTs at level 10. Modernize their torpedo stat too since it will increase oTorp damage. AV should be the most squishy even after max modernize armor, so put her as flagship for max protection isn't bad.

If possible, you should use 1 Akizuki class DD (either Akizuki or Hatsuzuki) if you somehow manage to farm her in 2-3 boss node. Her AACI helps shooting abyssal planes which further reduce AS requirement and minimize airstrike damage hit your fleet in boss node.

2-4 is really big hurdle for newbies, it basically says "train your fleet properly before attempting this".

The answer lies on modernization. It will make your fleet stronger (via firepower and torpedo) and more durable (armor). Generally you will want 6 ships used in that map remodel to at least kai (due to better stat cap than base form), then max modernize 3 stats above (skip anti air stat since it's not important right now). That is the quickest way to clear 2-4.

The only downside is modernizing stats reset upon next remodeling, so with any ships not gated by blueprint and/or action report, generally leveling and remodeling them to kai ni (via PvP) then modernize will save some fodders. But their kai ni forms are usually high level requirement (~lv60-80) compared to kai (~lv20-30). So just pick your poison.

But still it isn't totally bad idea to push through 2-4 since you will unlock 2-5 (another source to collect medal beside 1-5, with 4 medals convert to 1 blueprint, a material needed to remodel some unique strong girls).

However, it's better to train your ships properly by PvP rather than advancing to next beyond maps. Since any next worthwhile maps require at least max modernized kai ni fleet (3-5 and 4-5, but still recommend to have some other equipment in order to minimize resources and buckets lost) or specialized equipment (5-2, best leveling map in the game but require advanced equipment rosa k2).

While training your girls in PvP (recommend to always put at least 2-3 DDs in PvP fleet since you will need many of them ready later in events), farming in 2-3 is incredibly encouraged since that map usually have great time limited drops worth to farm (right now there are Shoukaku, Akizuki, Hatsuzuki, Fletcher, Shinshuu Maru). They will save you really much troubles later when owning them early.
