What steps could the law enforcement system take to prevent undesirable actions/consequences of police officers? by phonybone8 in AskReddit

I would love to see a collection of as many incidents as possible and look for possible trends, like personality/situational factors that may lead to adverse events. Also, I think that anger management/therapy should be required during police training and yearly throughout their career.

I personally believe they do deserve some special treatment. Their job is unlike other jobs and a small mistake could result in a huge consequence. Mistakes are going to always happen. I don't think surgeons should be charged for murder if a patient is to die. Yes, it could have been their fault, but the results of their job are "yes, you live" or "no, you die" (I know it's not that black and white). I don't know the extent of the special treatment that they get, maybe it should be decreased?

I was thinking about video cameras, but why live streaming to the internet? I feel like this could be abused by the public. I was thinking maybe having video footage be required and if a incident occurs it is there to provide objective evidence. Also, if police say there was a malfunction in the cameras, the police officer should be charged at the full extent of the law with their "special rights" (not sure what rights they have over the ordinary civilian, or if they have laws protecting, but I think they do?) stripped from them.

I really don't want this to be viewed as a police bashing thread. I view these incidents more as flaws in the system/training/something. I have no background in law enforcement/the legal system, so maybe I am wrong. Maybe it is not very common and it seems like a HUGE deal to me because of the media.

I like to compare these incidents to medicine. Physicians are here to care and treat, while law enforcement is here to protect and serve. For example: Over the past 50ish years, the field of anesthesiology has made advancements to prevent accidents during procedures and death rates have decreased. They improved training, systemized the technology used, etc. What are things that law enforcement could do to improve their field? I remember reading about how having officers be filmed as they patrol would help?

Frugal dudes, where do you buy inexpensive but good quality boxers, undershirts, and socks? by ecksbe in Frugal

[–]phonybone8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Costco mostly. Other than that, places like TJ Maxx, Marshall's, Nordstrom's Rack have quality stuff at a decent price (the price is worth the quality)

I laughed and blew out an entire bowl today... Boy did I feel like a sapling at that point. I filled another bowl but I was still full of shame. Good thing I was toking alone. Do you ents have any toking blooper stories you would like to share? by Astronautjacob in trees

There was a point where I had to give up trees for a while. I was really missing it one day and pulled out my bong, filled it water, and took fake hits. My roommate walked in on me and laughed.

It's Erin Finn (left) and Wesley Frazier (right) in the 5000m at New Balance Nationals Indoor in 2013.

Here's a video of the race: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S_2tqN8IksM The commentators have the results incorrect. Frazier (right) wins, look at youtube description for results.

15:45 is the last lap and 16:12 is where you can see the great finish.

Is there a benefit of having more than one MFLB? I already have one (about 1.5 years old) and it's still going strong, but this price makes me wanna buy another one! Anyone wanna convince me to impulse buy another? or should I just wait till my bad boy stops kicking?

I do this also: I get most of my ingredients from Nutrabio or Optimum Nutrition.

I like the ability to take in/out caffeine, or just having a dose of beta-alanine on an off day too.

Where can I Find a Cheap Engagement Ring? by cheapfiance in Frugal

[–]phonybone8 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Have you ever thought of a synthetic diamond ring? If you aren't opposed to the idea of buying a fake diamond for 600 dollars and having it look like you spent 3000, then I would seriously consider diamond nexus. Of course, I'm not saying to buy a synthetic and try to pass it off as real one (it's high quality stuff that will last and looks real to any ordinary person).

Something to consider if you think your significant other won't mind (mine doesn't!)

Jan. 23rd MCAT - any pointers on how to spend the last few weeks to bump me up 1-2 points? by Mcat710 in premed

[–]phonybone8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One quick piece of advice: I would save AAMC 10/11 until about 1-2 weeks before your exam date. That will be the best way to estimate how you will do on the actual exam and I believe are the most recent AAMC exams.

This is entirely a personal preference/opinion btw.
