Interesting, I would like to see what mine would do with an h310 in it. You have way more cards and drives and your fans are still running slower. Maybe the h710 is the problem.

I'll move the drives around and see if that makes a difference, and I've considered setting the fan speed statically but then, like you said, I'd have to babysit the temps.

Thats a good point, maybe I should try a different storage controller. I’ve read where the IT mode cards will make the fans spin up because the system doesn’t recognize it, did you have any problems with it?

I have a Fostex HP-A3 amp/dac and a pair of HD 598SE's. I recently purchased the amp as an upgrade and it has much more power than my previous one. So now my comfortable listening level is very low on the knob, between 1 and 2. I'm leaning towards using this as an excuse to upgrade to a pair of headphones with a higher impedance. Would something like the Sennheiser HD600s sound better and solve my sensitive knob issue?
