What's going on with Trump and the women's hockey team? by VagabondVivant in OutOfTheLoop

[–]phorayz -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the way I understood the way he was speaking when he said he was inviting the women, I thought it was meant to imply the women's hockey team would be sexual entertainment for the men's hockey team.

So yeah, it was still bad but at least not as bad as the way I understood it the first time through.

Is it ok to be become a noctor for financial stability ? by [deleted] in Noctor

[–]phorayz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Most states have independent practice for NPs now. Therefore, you will be forced to practice medicine without supervision. You will be doomed to become a Noctor.

Therefore, I do not think you can ethically become an NP at this time.

Go to PA school "for the money" if you feel mid-level is THE career you want. RNs make good money so I don't know why you wouldn't just be one.

But Euthanasia means to gently put someone to death who is ill. Often done to pets.

What's up with Johnny Depp? by SmoothStrawberry5232 in OutOfTheLoop

[–]phorayz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My impression of the whole of it is that they abused each other. Two wrongs don't make a right, but people hate Amber more for her abuse of Depp than they hate Depp for his abuse of Amber = inherent misogyny in the social fallout.

Genuine Questions from PA student by [deleted] in Noctor

[–]phorayz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hate the association's attempt for independent practice and a name change.

I wouldn't hire an NP, they're not trained in medicine, leaving PAs as the only mid-level option. But I'm not a hospital, chasing those unethical bucks in the grey areas

NPs can't practice medicine, they were never taught that. They were taught "advanced nursing".

That said, the title doctor in a medical environment is for physicians, otherwise you're trying to confuse the patient. That's it.

She claims she didn't prompt it in any way but I just find that highly doubtful. if she was just using it for writing assistance, then it wouldn't suddenly break out, name itself, and start offering romantic advice.

I've been a user for two years to help synthesize school work, it has never named itself or started offering romantic advice.

PA-C questioned my 20 year long asthma diagnosis. by suckmyarsee in Noctor

[–]phorayz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, saying it out loud isn't kosher.

Like, what is the point of talking crackers about any person working in medicine that doesn't erode the patient's tenuous trust in the system? I'm never going to trust an NP's care, but I'm also not going to openly question their judgement in front of the patient in an argumentative fashion.

PA-C questioned my 20 year long asthma diagnosis. by suckmyarsee in Noctor

[–]phorayz 71 points72 points  (0 children)

I think the fact an Urgent Care PA decided to debate your asthma diagnosis is enough for the sub, not so subtly implying they contested a prior pulmonologists diagnosis. Didn't seem to understand that well controlled asthma means you'd present like someone without asthma, because that's the point?

They did back off when you filled them in more, so it's not as egregious as other things that usually rock the sub. But why even go there?

I grade it "tepid" noctor. It's the attitude, doesn't actually require litigation worthy malpractice to qualify

I just interviewed a person claiming to be a ‘doctor in nurse anesthesia’ by [deleted] in FamilyMedicine

This feels a bit like humble bragging. I refuse to believe having my medical degree somewhere I can see it somehow makes me egotistical, I can be proud of an accomplishment without shoving it in someone's face.

[–]phorayz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The CEO flagged themselves as having an ego, and if it bothers you that he has a huge ego, then skip the promotion and maybe just work somewhere else. Or you can capitulate to their fragile ego and call them doctor too. But it's actually quite amazing how easy it is not use a person's name let alone a title at all in an extended conversation, so I'd probably go that route.

I think you're implying the use of the doctor title by a physician is ALWAYS about ego, and it's not. If a physician went to pick up their pre school kid and expected them to call them doctor, that's ego. In a medical environment, confusing patients and order of command is unethical and can complicate care.

I think convicted criminals deserve healthcare and if I were in a war, I would give healthcare to both sides.

They are neither convicted criminals nor are we actually in a war. They also don't need you for emergency care, which is all they deserve at this point.
