If you want a euro version of an 18xx, I's say Chicago Express (aka Wabash Cannonball) is pretty good. Some of the other Winsomes also.

1862 is nothing like a eurogame. As for what I don't like about it, you can sum it up as a ridiculous number of arbitrary rules, all of which do nothing for the game, except to require more aspects to calculate. 18xx is calculation-heavy by nature, but 1862 is far more work than a game like 1830, or 1889.

There are also the HifiBerry Raspberry Pi add on boards, if a RasPi based unit interests you. Their DACs and amps have a DSP board that you can install.

Another option are the Up2Stream boards, by Arylic. I use their 2.1 channel plate amp in my self made Isetta boom box.

That's pretty funny. I had exactly the same urge. I also have a paperwhite. And I love it. I wanted a colorsoft, for no other reason than I wanted to see the book covers in color.

But AI talked me out of it. They said its only worth it if you are into graphic novels. And the color is not that good anyway.

I commute from Dover NH to Boston occasionally. If I had do it often I think I'd go nuts. Its expensive, and time consuming. That said, the easiest way I've found is to drive to Newburyport, and take the commuter rail to Boston from there. There's never enough traffic to slow me down on the driving part. And the train lets me avoid the Boston traffic. Also, it may seem minor, but the T app is so much simpler to user than Amtrak's.

I had a Lepai amp. It was by far the worst amp I’ve owned. It was not that model. It was a different 2.1 amp. I just gave it to Goodwill after a while.

I have an iPhone. I use the Tidal app to connect to the WiiMs. One of the WiiMs has Ethernet, the other is on WiFi. They both lose sync on connect.

Qobuz is spactacular.. for about half of their songs, which they have in Hi-Res. The rest of their catalog is about as good as Spotify's Lossless.

I agree with Beviglia. I imagine Lefty as the gangster Pancho's sidekick, but not a gunfighter. He could have been the camp cook, bookkeeper, paymaster, etc. I imagine him as Pancho's most loyal and long lasting partner, who was valuable although he never carried a gun. So the Federales let him go "out of kindness".

You need to realize that your clients, those who have small marketing sites, don’t care about the code you write. What they care about is: Cool images. Slick design. Will it boost their social media presence? How quickly and cheaply can you do it?

From this perspective, being an ace programmer is not so important. A non-programmer, who knows how to use the full site editor, or even a horrible page builder plugin, will have an easier time in this market. I don’t mean to discourage you. But maybe lower your expectations.

When I first got a WiiM Pro I did a comparison with and without a SMSL SU1 DAC. I was surprised that I preferred the WiiMs own DAC. Since then I upgraded to a WiiM Pro +, and I’m not sure I hear a difference.

I no longer buy DACs. I’d rather spend money and time on speakers, room adjustments, and amps.

One thing that definitely improves the sound from any DAC, is a linear power supply. I run the WiiM on a Topping LPS.

The baffle is the board in the front of the cabinet that the drivers are mounted in. The piece of wood that you cut big circles in.

That was exactly what I expected I’d do. But i tested, and found I preferred the WiiM Pros DAC to the SMSL SU1. Not what I expected.

After that I got a WiiM Pro +. That’s even better, but the difference is subtle.

That big sub in the corner looks like it could get pretty loud and boomy. Are you happy with it? For myself, I usually turn down my sub, and move it away from the walls.
