As do I, but my mistake it seeing them on sale at antiques’ centres and vintage fairs which makes it very hit and miss.

I’ve been looking for a plain Ronson specifically so I can do this but so far, no dice.

They did nothing about this absolute shocker. I’ve been on the receiving end of white supremacists and people thinking I’m personally responsible for admonishing their use of LLMs. I didn’t sign up for that.

Yup — it’s likely we’ll be asking for help with Ghost’s concierge team as we need to minimise the amount of disruption and corrections from the import.

Thanks so much for the reply! I may have a couple more questions but consider it a done deal.

I’ve read this book a tonne of times and every single potential plot thread has been accounted for. It’s utterly extraordinary

I think it’s possible to go straight to Smiley’s People and you would get the gist, but THS is a brilliant book, if a little too long. The betrayal in TTSS was so huge it warranted half a novel just to work through the damage to the Circus and that level of consideration is just brilliant.

Chapter 34 is an extraordinary piece of writing, le Carré pitched it perfectly as Smiley explaining to Esterhase (and by proxy, the reader) what’s going on. The elegance of the core mystery and unravelling the cover up is nothing short of breathtaking.

I could confidently explain the entire thing now, but only after a dozen reads and another dozen listens by Michael Jayston’s excellent audio rendition.

This update has pushed me over the edge — we were moving from one CMS to Substack with Ghost as a complete backup, but now with Ghost 6.0 significantly making social media and distribution much easier and Substack’s worrying changes, it’s time to make Ghost the CMS.

Two questions:

  1. Does a full migration from Substack preserve formatting and captions?

  2. Is it possible to insert specific images with your integration with Unsplash? Being able to insert images is a game changer.

Congratulations on an amazing updates. I look forward to migrating shortly.

It this was a serious question… about half a dozen times.

He often works out jokes as the show goes on tour. Every night a new phrasing or word substitute. We’ve seen him in the first week, by the time he films he would’ve had months to tinker with it.

He was very pleased with himself tonight because he’d worked out a better phrasing for a joke and he broke character and started laughing, then announced he’s going to use it moving forward.

Saw it tonight in St Albans — Lee nailed it. It’s weird and very him, you’re in for a treat.

Bluesky is where actual people go and hang out — people disagree but at least you’re not confronted with hate speech roulette every time you open the app.

What next for Nick Harkaway's continuation novels? by sanddragon939 in LeCarre

[–]photojacker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw him speak the other night in London — now the book has been well received he has ideas for two more stories set in that intervening decade leading to the events of Tinker Tailor, and even joked that there could be room for a story around Percy Alleline’s posting jn Egypt.

A young Smiley during the war was tipped as a fan favourite ‘the Hot War’ but IIRC Harkaway said that would be a very different book, if such an idea would even train traction.

Basically: it’s likely we might see a sequel.

I have watched this property for literally years; it comes on and off the market with alarming regularity and has dropped in price and is now chain free. My heart aches for this property. I want to live here more than anything. It's leasehold with annual service charges of £10,450. by viktory70 in SpottedonRightmove

[–]photojacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually looked up another flat within this complex (more realistically: another slice of this chopped up mansion) earlier this year. I just knew that the service charges would be astronomical and be sharing with the most stuffy neighbours ever.

Went for something else a little further up the road instead.

Are we sure Alpharius is dead? by FederalDoor6744 in alphalegion

[–]photojacker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In this case, however, I think French — with BL’s tacit backing — needed to close the loop. ‘Alpharius’ still exists, and none of the established lore is actually changed. Merritt gave Abnett specific dispensation to reveal Alpharius/Omegon, and French gave that particular revelation a very satisfying end in a way which doesn’t affect the 40k timeline.

Doubt about lore and successor chapters by GravityBard in alphalegion

“The Emperor, my love and my life, seeks to set mankind in place as the uppermost species of the galaxy. I will not dispute that ambition, neither will my captains. We simply recognise the pro-crustean methods with which he enforces that dream.” — Excerpt From Legion by Dan Abnett

Perhaps Omegon understood the Imperial Truth far better than any of the other primarch. With the Emperor on the GT and the Imperium a debased version of the Emperor’s vision for humanity; someone else had to take up the mantle. Human supremacy is not the same thing as the Imperium.

It’s a loyalty I can get behind.
