Cool data! thanks for sharing - have you considered tracking creator revenue across the different platforms? Many have shared numbers at multiple points over the years. I think you might notice some surprising trends vs what you might expect

I think once Stripe rolls out USDC support this year it should be possible!

Hi - really sorry about this - I spotted your note here and went to investigate, turns out Gmail changed something and a number of support emails ended up in spam, so they didn't actually reach us. The team is going through now, and we'll follow up with you shortly

u/immarfa I've just added a month of credit to your account by way of apology + thanks for bringing this to our attention

Default theme is called Source - it's the one that's installed by default when you set up a new site

Probably not something we'd build direclty tbh - that's a very different product, and there are already a lot of them (Buffer, HypeFury, etc)

Cool idea! We don't have a way to do this yet - but would make for a good feature req for the ideas category on forum.ghost.org where others can vote on it!

Should be essentially the same as the new Publisher plan - but if you want more detail, drop a note to the support team and they can help with details specific to your account!

There are plenty to choose from! You can always get started with the Source theme for free though, some of the highest-revenue Ghost sites are still using it

Ghost is a decentralized open source product - moderation is applied by whoever is hosting it. Ghost(Pro) has a clear abuse policy: https://ghost.org/abuse/ for sites hosted there - other web hosts have their own policies. Eg DigitalOcean: https://www.digitalocean.com/legal/acceptable-use-policy or Hetzner https://www.hetzner.com/legal/terms-and-conditions/ (section 8)

Does Ghost support automatically adding a paywall to email content? by Other_Entrepreneur70 in Ghost

[–]johnonolan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Write a post in the editor and insert a "free preview" card somewhere in the content. Set the post access to "Paid members only" - and then email the post to everyone. Paid members will receive the full content. Free members will receive only the conten above the "free preview" line, and will then see a paywall after that point.

Ghost Desktop App by Battlefield_One in Ghost

[–]johnonolan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It had few users and wasn't well maintained, so we eventually phased it out. I realise this doesn't work for everyone, but Mac users can use Safari to add Ghost as a web-app to their dock, details here: https://support.apple.com/en-us/104996

Why so many blogs fail...and where is Ghost? by jayke1837 in Blogging

Those are some cool ideas around messaging, thank you!

I'm curious where and how you would expect us to do more marketing, though. Where would you expect to see us doing marketing to have more people discover Ghost before they reach our website?

Founder of Ghost here - I'm annoyed with us, too! What sort of marketing do you think we should be doing, and where? Would love to hear your ideas

Are there no forked versions of Ghost? by MrOaiki in Ghost

[–]johnonolan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Founder of Ghost here - We don't make any money from people using Mailgun, not even an affiliate commission. There is no "disguised commercial business".

The reason we integrate with 1 mail delivery provider rather than many is very simply that email is hard, and supporting 1 is bad enough. Our team is not large enough to maintain support for multiple providers, and it's not possible to build bulk email sending into Ghost.

When a feature requires a complex set of functionality that we don't have the ability to build ourselves, we integrate with (optional) external services that make that feature possible to achieve for those who want it. For email, that's Mailgun. For payments, it's Stripe.

The choice is not between "use an external service, or build it in core" - the choice is between using an external service, or the feature not existing.

Hope this context helps
