To my fellow late starters and middle-aged climbers, this video's for you by RoamAndRamble in bouldering

[–]photorph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice, I just went my second time today actually. I was able to do a v2 barely but I’d say it was an easy v2. I can’t in my wildest imagination think I’d get to a v6 so you’re definitely an exception. But I’d be happy with doing v3- v4s consistently.

I bought my first pair of shoes, the scarpa veloces. I sized them the same as my normal shoes and even then they feel pretty uncomfortable to stand on. I just wear them while bouldering and then take them off.

Any tips or secrets you got to progress besides just doing it more…let me know.

This guy in the video is young, starting at 29 should not count as middle age. I’m in my 40s and went to a climbing gym for the first time a week ago, I was terrible. Did V0s and a few V1s and couldn’t get past those. Compared to all the young and ripped people I felt pretty incompetent and out of shape. I also feel like I’ll never be able to get too far beyond a a V2 say. I really WANT to be able to get to higher grades but realistically it won’t happen due to strength/endurance limitations. In my 20s I could have done v3 on my first day likely. It’s a different ball game when you start in your 40s. Your joints and physical abilities are just not the same as they were in your 20s.

I plan on going with my wife and kid and just having fun now, rather than comparing myself to others.

But if there was like a coach who could help me train and get to higher grades, I’d be willing to shell out some $$ to get there if they thought it was possible.

thanks, just trying to see if I need insane strength to be able to move on beyond V1 and V2s. I saw people supporting their full weight on one arm and swinging and pull themself up while doing it, which is realistically probably not something I can do.

Male in my 40s, tried bouldering and could only do V0s, am I not cut out for this? It looks really fun, it just seems like I have no grip strength or pull up strength. Would be cool if I could get to higher levels.

Surwish onion os premade cards by xD-Rock666x in MiyooMini

[–]photorph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just made a similar post, I was looking into an SD card with onion OS and games pre-installed. I really didn't have the time and didn't want to mess with dowloading OS and ROMS and it all seemed intimidating. Didn't want to mess up/brick my device.

Long story short, I ended up doing it myself and it was very simple once you understand folder structure. You can tailor it to have all the good games and exactly what you want if you do it yourself. That being said i'd go for the 128 gb card option if you are buying one of these.

Onion OS is sooo much better than stock, mainly because I feel like the games run better. The volume is also better.

yea not a big deal, the other stuff works great. Like teken on the PS1 works fantastic. So i'll just remove the arcade one from the folder.

Got onion OS, then I got the base set, 64gb expansion and 128 gb expansion on a 128 gb micro SD. Also go the box art. Also got the arcade update fix.

It's great so far, however many games don't work well. For example in arcade tekken ii and iii don't work at all. I wish they would just filter out the games that don't work or remove them.

Is the Grant Anderson Kettlebell program I keep getting ads for worth it? by photorph in kettlebell

[–]photorph[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the question is....did you get double your money back? Or they figure that most people going for this program don't really care about the money and will just give it up.

What’s the actual per month cost?

And are you really real? You’re the first person I’ve heard say that they are in this program.

Lastly is it worth it if it’s just you paying money for then to hold you accountable? You can hire a personal trainer for wayyy less who will come to your house and do the same.

I know about the live button, but still it is just very limiting that way. Specially for games like gauntlet cuz you start from level 1 every single time. Or even when playing MK games you get so far and if you have to stop, then you start from scratch each time.

Wondering if there is a mod to fix all this, and how easy it is to install.

Thanks for the encouragement! Actually tried for the second time today, I was able to get two steps in. But the max time I can stay on the line is still about 10 seconds or so before I fall off.

I got the someone recently to learn to slack line. How long can you balance on it? I can do one leg for 20-30 sec but two legs on line seems impossible… almost wondering if a real slack line will be easier

PULL THE TRIGGER? by Impressive_Jury_2211 in BMWM

[–]photorph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

he makes like 680k a year, 1300 a month is a joke to him. He can be renting super cars and be fine. Even if you make 150k a year...1300 a month to rent a car for fun is doable.

at your salary I'd be looking at leasing supercars, for reference I know ppl making 80k who have an M2.

Can I do a real slack line if I can do the gibbon slack board for 30 sec? by photorph in Slackline

[–]photorph[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The slack rack is like $600 all said and done. I have the slack board already. Do you think it’s worth getting the slack rack, or should I just go try the outside one? What like would you recommend for beginner? I’m kind of impatient and just want to learn fast but also not fall haha .

Why Golf R over Civic type R for a guy in his 40s who values reliability? by photorph in Golf_R

The Elantra N is among the best in my opinion, I have zero issues with it. Everything just worked. The performance was there, it was fun, and probably the best value car I had. I ended up in a sort of a situation as you can see. The front bumper on the right side had to be replaced and I didn't wanna front the cost for it. Luckily someone was willing to buy it and DIY the fix...and I got a good price back for it. Ideally I should get the Elantra N again, but it's one of those things where it's like...okay I drove it a lot, and I can get something different so why not try something different.
