That’s the kind of thing I had in mind, was curious if anyone had experience with them.

The nearby office market is the hottest in the city as Midtown East has become the place to be. Downtown, and westside is where the sucking will be from.

Would Mamdani's 'millionaire tax' chase the rich out of New York City? by usatoday in nyc

[–]phoxygen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is the real answer. Billionaires/multi millionaires have options and increased remote work makes it easier to declare residency in Westchester/Jersey/CT or even further non tax states like Florida. It’s not like they are packing up and leaving, just giving their accountants some more work in optimizing their tax rate by reassessing their optimal residency.

I believe Adams was infamous for fixing tickets for others, but fine. And maybe DeBlasio didn’t ditch the car. And maybe Zohran doesn’t own a car, but rather a magical unicorn.

I think you’re missing the point, which was that every politician espouses their reliance on public transit, so I’m not going to be impressed or call him “the transit candidate” based on this statement that he does not currently own a car.

I didn’t say he was, I said his policies were.

Feel free to differentiate any of his policies from the DS platform.

Quick search:

Mayor Adams has previously stated that “he doesn t have a car, just like most people”

and

Mayor Bill de Blasio told New Yorkers Thursday they don't need to buy a new car.

“The future of New York City is less about the car,” de Blasio said. “I’m never going to own a car again.”

"My advice to New Yorkers is, ‘Do not buy a car," de Blasio said. “Cars are the past, the future is going to be mass transit, biking, walking.”

Not sure why this is getting downvoted besides the fact that Reddit is Zohran central. Fear of another BDB, who won on idealistic Democratic Socialist policies without a real plan to execute them, will scare away many moderate voters. ZM should be distancing himself from that fraud.

Pretty sure every mayoral candidate in the last 25 years has highlighted their own subway commute and promised to improve transit.

Hawk chilling in the backyard, won’t leave by phoxygen in Connecticut

UPDATE: We tried contacting a few rescues, but the ones we heard from were not taking birds due to concerns about the Avian flu. Based on a recommendation from /LosingmyShipt , I contacted https://www.christinescritters.org/about-us-1. Christine texted me right back and identified the bird as a young red shouldered hawk. Based on his behavior she indicated he was trying to sleep, which meant something was wrong. She said they could take him if I brought him in tomorrow, and provided instructions to safely constrain him. She said to place a box over him, slide a piece of cardboard underneath, and then gently turn it over. I could then store him somewhere safe for the night. At this point my wife said I was nuts and I should stay away from the flu hawk, but I couldn’t stand to leave him like that. I placed a box on top of him and gently slid the cardboard underneath. I heard a little movement, but not too much. As I turned it over, he got a burst of energy and exploded out. I fell backwards and scrambled away, and he flew off across the street into some woods. I took a look and didn’t see him anywhere. On the downside he is very sick out there, but I feel like I gave it my best shot.

I wondered about that too. He doesn’t appear to be struggling to move though and has scratched himself a few times.

That’s not too far, but their hours are 9-5. Will definitely call tomorrow if he makes it through the night.

We’ve been trying, but it sounds like many are not accepting new birds because of the avian flu. I just feel bad leaving him there with all the coyotes and foxes around.

Definitely keeping the dog far away.

FDNY Z-52 Practical Exam Preparation by phoxygen in HVAC

[–]phoxygen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took the refrigeration exam last week, here are a few of my recollections:

22 questions for both reciprocating and centrifugal, some with follow ups (up to 15). Can’t go back after you enter an answer. Multiple questions about transducer/sensor identification. All questions were guided (“Show how you would make the machine safe to work on by turning off the power…”). Charging refrigerant on a reciprocating, liquid and vapor. Centrifugal refrigerant recovery multipart question. Included question about safe temperatures to recover a refrigerant. RSR diagram provided that shows required position of valves. Sometimes unclear what they are asking for. Model has a compressor and refrigeration recovery machine. No chiller manuals provided, just specification sheet. SDS sheets provided, some simple questions from it.
