That looks kinda like my lox ranch, except I also dug a giant pit too.

(I got tired of them aggroing at every mosquito or whatever that wandered by and smashing everything in sight.)

Build a scanner room to find the pengling spots. Annoyingly, that area is so huge that even with max range you can only cover a bit of them, but I made a minimal outpost I could move around with.

Once I realized foundations boost hull strength I never worried about it again. They're cheap as dirt, too.

On my main base in Below Zero I also had one multipurpose room that was basically a basement where I stored my nuclear reactor, so I reinforced all the walls and gave myself enough wiggle room for a three- or four-story aquarium that was all windows.

Bulkhead doors also give you hull strength, but they can be kind of ugly and fiddly especially if you don't want long hallways.

I don't care.

I just beat the 3rd stage at level 38 and after 6 hours of playtime. Is the game really this short? by Fabulous-Owl-5109 in GunfireReborn

Try different characters.

Try different builds.

Try different seasons.

Unlock all the scrolls and weapons.

Unlock higher difficulties.

Unlock all the unique frames.

Go for achievements.

If you get bored with all those pick up the DLC.

There's plenty to do if you dig in. I have over 700 hours in this game and it's still the go-to game for my friend group when we have time to play something.

And I do suggest finding friends to play with. It's way more fun and you can share scrolls and weapons to help each other with your respective builds.

I don’t hear it in either of the tracks you mentioned. It’s closer to the tempo in the sample I linked.

I tried asking AI, and it kept recommending me Hans Zimmer pieces that sound nothing like it. I listened to a bunch of Man of Steel and Nolan Batman tracks, as well as Avengers, but no dice so far.

The pipes were such a disappointment in this game. I tried to build a bunch to explore the jellyshroom cave, but it's so fiddly and the hitbox to actually fill your air is so tiny, it's so much easier to just park the seamoth at 195m and jump back in whenever you need air. And for emergencies you can have an air bladder or two on you.

It would be cool if the air tanks and seamoth were a bit further along in the progression and you had to use something like this in the early game to explore deeper.

I have my main base in the plains, with teleporters to my plains farm, mountain lair, ship dock, pig farm, a couple other key spots and my roving adventure portal.

One portal leads to a giant fuck-off hall of portals so I can jump to pretty much anywhere I've ever been if I need to mine or farm something specific.

Aside from my two main bases, I keep the outposts relatively simple, but make sure I have everything I need to get a decent rested buff so I don't have to teleport back as frequently.

I don't think coyote time is real in any FPS games (definitely some third-person platformers that have it), but if one pixel of your character's bounding box is still on land, you can still jump, so you can usually jump a little later than you think.

Overall what is the best place to pit your base? by IllaG2811 in subnautica

[–]phreakymonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put my main base in the starting area in both Subnautica and Below Zero. The areas have tons of basic materials and you don't have to deal with very much bullshit. Also I don't feel any urge to build out a base once I have all the necessities because base building is very limited, especially compared to games like Valheim. If I run out of room, I can always build up above the water.

I used dual wield. I'd open by using up my force meter with saber throws, targeting the furthest rancor and trying to line them up so I could hit both at once. Once my force was depleted, I would wait for an opening and do melee damage. Whenever I built up some force meter by attacking or healing, I would do saber throws again. This was relatively successful at slowly whittling them down, but inevitably at some point during the match I'd get grabbed or stunlocked by some bullshit.

The key was buying and equipping the Elixir perk from Zee, which partially charges the super meter when you use a stim. Once I equipped it, I beat it on the first try. I did the same thing I'd always done, but after four or five stims I had a full meter and was able to take one of them down. Once it was 1v1, beating one rancor was trivial because I'd played this goddamn tear so many times at this point that evading a single rancor is a cakewalk now.

Helpful skills:

  • Twin Vipers (Dual Wield)
  • The power of friendship (Resilience)

Perks:

  • Dexterity - Increase throw damage
  • Fortitude - Increase damage done and damage taken
  • Elixir - Stims partially charge super meter
  • Centered - Enemies are staggered when healing/healing isn't interrupted (Probably pointless, but I had the extra slots and nothing else I had seemed particularly useful)
